DH and I are planning on packing bottles of water (in plastic Ziploc bags, of course), boxes of cereal, cereal bars, mixed nuts, and dried fruit in our checked baggage. Will our stuff make it there okay or will it all get crushed, squished, and exploded? :confused3 Anyone tried this before? :confused3

We packed a whole big suitcases full of snacks last fall. They made it fine, but I have to admit we ate very little of it. Those WDW snacks were just too appealing.

only if you are on a certain diet and don't have the time to go to certain health food stores in Orlando due to late arrival or short visit, otherwise you can easily and very cheap buy what you will need or like from local markets which are conveniently located, a case of 24 bottles of water sells for $5 as a regular price even at gas stations,
you could bring a couple of bottles each just for the trip length of time on the safe side.

If you have a car, check out the Super Walmart. We usually rent a condo and stop at Walmart to pick up food supplies for the week. We used to go to Publix, but we saved a few bucks by going to Walmart instead.

I've packed snacks in checked luggage for trips....things like individually packed goldfish, pretzels, etc. I don't think I'd be so brave to pack water bottles...even if they are in a ziplock. It would not be worth arriving with a suitcase full of wet clothes. We are stopping on the way to the hotel to stock up for snacks, breakfast and water/drinks for the room. I've also read here where people order groceries delivered to your room. wegoshop.com or something like that.

We always pack water and cereal, cereal bars and some snacks. We eat breakfast in the room most mornings. Everything arrives fine.

i am planning on packing food but not water in one of our checked bags. Hopefully this will save money once we are down there and it also allows us to have an extra bag to bring back souveniers.

A lot of the airlines have lowered their weight limit for luggage and bottled water would weigh up fast. I would try to purchase it once you get there.
We too found that we didn't use up half of the snacks we took, so I have cut way down on that also.

I didn't pack any liquids. But I loaded my hard sided suitcase with lots of food stuffs.

Hot pot & instant oatmeal for breakfast

crystal light, both the individual packs and the little tubs that make 1/2 gallon. That was great!!! I packed a pitcher and wooden spoon and every afternoon mixed up a batch. GREAT tip from this board.

peanuts, trail mix, crackers, granola bars, triscuts.

I used a softsided cooler as a carryon and brought cheese, apples.

I used TTC (limo) grocery stop and picked up milk, more fruit, bread

We brought a suitcase with lots of snacks

chex mix, cereal, nutri grains, fruit by the foot, raisins, canned fruit with pop tops, chicken salad kits, crystal light packets and a few other things. We brought water bottles in our carry on bags and everything made it fine. We did eat our snacks because we did not want to buy three meals in the parks everyday too much $ for us! When we came home the suitcase wass full of souveniers instead of snacks! Bring a soft cooler for drinks and things will be grerat!

We were really on the edge deciding to take snacks or not, but I think I will now. What a great idea to take and extra suitcase and bring it home full with souveniers with all of the money we would have spent. for instance i figured out that we would save 50 by not eating breakfast in our food court! Thanks everyone... :wizard:

Yeah, you ain't kidding.

SWA hit us for 50 bucks on the way to WDW. :confused3

What a weigh (get it ?) to start a vacation. :goodvibes

We make sure we check our bags before we leave as it could cost some extra $$$ before you start you vacation.
