Is owning OKW and SSR just plain foolish?

sold OKW for BLT....

waited 15 years for a monrail DVC and HAD to buy it.

very happy with my decision - although will miss the amount of points that I had with OKW.

love BLT!!! also own at BWV and VWL. since in 2042 will be 92 don't think going to wdw is what I will be doing - of course you never know - so BLT is good until 2060.

Being 92 but "short" points ain't that bad of a place to be ! Guessing it's much easier to add-on points as opposed to years...............

I don't understand, what is wrong with getting reservations anytime you want as you stated. They are about twice the size of the other resorts. Both are very nice resorts and I own both since 2004. Family and friends after staying at all the resorts like OKW first then SSR.

We are new owners to DVC-SSR being our home resort (thanks to my mom, karensi, who purchased 300 points for us this month!).
We have two children, ages are 16 and 12.
Having children this age, I love the location of SSR. With the kids getting older, I look to the future knowing that when they are older or come on their own in their 20s, they can walk to DTD, go out at night, and not have to bother with busses, they can just walk home. We always go out for dinner on vacations so having DTD for us is nice since we don't have to get in our car and drive to go out. We always have a car, either rental or drive.
To each his own, the more people that buy elsewhere, better for me.
We are going to SSR end of next August, the five of us (my family and my mom) in a Grand Villa! Can't wait.

This is why we are strongly considering SSR as well. We could honestly go to DTD every single night and not ever be tired of it. I married man that likes shopping too! Yes ladies, he's ALL MINE!
I just hated driving there and finding a place to park all the time. I like the idea of it being right next door.

I can tell you this idea, although on a much smaller level, also works for us now. We own a 3 bedroom at Waterside by Spinnaker in Hilton Head.
We are in walking distance to Cologny Plaza. Although NOTHING like DTD, this year my dd and her friend were able to go on their own after a day at the beach or after swimming. There is shopping, food, etc. When they are older, there are restaurants and bars in the walking area. This is great for my husband and me too since we do not have to worry about driving home at night.

DTD also has a movie theatre, is that correct...never been. The kids, when older, can even go to the movies and DQ. Yes, some think it is much better to be close to the parks, but I really rather be close to DTD or I do like BW (stayed there in the hotel, never Villas). I like I could go to the Boardwalk or Epcot or boat to DS. BLT, being so close to MK, just doesn't appeal to me, not sure why. I don't like the decor but could "live" with it.
We always have a car so maybe this is another reason the location for the evening matters more to me than what park.
Good luck.
ps, yes, I am very lucky to have a wonderful mom!

Unless things have changed since the economy tanked, it sure does and it's HUGE! Nice stadium seating! Loved it!

We always rent a car as well so getting to the parks doesn't bother us. But it would be nice to be able to walk to DTD nightly. :) Or at least a seriously short bus ride.

We used Jaki and **** and they were great. Answered every question promptly and really helped us thru the process.

You're right Chris...I forgot to give a nod there, too. I worked with **** on one contract. Just as you say!

HA! It might be fixed on the boards but instant reply notification e-mails got you red handed! :rotfl: There's no running for you!

Noone had mention the treehouse villas up to that point because the thread was started in 2006! :)

Folks, this thread is 3 years old, and very off topic. Time to close it.
