Hi, Would/Has anybody been to wdw for only a week? I always go for 2wk's and find it hard to do everything at WDW and Universal. if you have been for a week what were you able to get done? My friend would like to go for a week in dec but im not sure its worth it for just one week as he's never been b4? should we go for the week or go for 2 weeks next year?

Yes, we have been for just a week before, stayed at Carribean beach but did not visit trhe parks, instead we went shopping!

We thought about going for a week in September as we had been for a fortnight earlier this year but for myself (who doesn't like flying) I thought it would be to long a flight for a week and also there is so much to do so we booked another fortnight. As it was I didn't want to come home after a fortnight :rotfl2: On saying that if I could only go for a week or not at all then I would go for the week.

We are only able to go for a week this year (went for a fortnight last year). We will probably not take a rest from the parks every other day as we did last year otherwise we won't be able to fit everything in that we want to do.

That said, I have worked really hard to come up with a schedule which includes everything we'd like to see/do. With any luck, we will have at least one day free from parks.

Ideally, I would like to go for a fortnight or even 3 weeks but not sure I can leave my DS for that long this year. Since we booked our week, we have already decided to go for a fortnight again next year.

we went for a week last year, we had one week in orlando then 1 week somewhere else......we only had 4 days in the parks but we went to one park each day and had a great time.
it was a bit rushed but i would do it again if necessary :)
one week is better than none :rotfl:

I've had friends who have only stayed for a week on a couple of occasions.
But they only do one or two parks, the rest of the time is spent shopping. Thats mainly why they go.

I could'nt do a week as i suffer from terrible jetlag. When I get there
it takes up to 4 days for me to function probably.

ROTFLOL me too :teeth:

I have seen people go for a week and have a fab time!

I would prefer to go for a fortnight myself - it's the same price for flights whether you go for a week or a fortnight and as that is 90% of the holiday cost for me I would feel a bit cheated by a week. I would rather go less often but for longer :)

But as Mariechez says, if it's that or nothing.... no contest!!

I'd go for a weekend if I could!!

A week - that's a lifetime.

Go for it!

We went for 3 weeks, 2 in Orlando and 1 on the gulf coast and we still didn't manage to do every thing we planned. But if it was 1 week or none i would certainly take the week :Pinkbounc

One week is fine...just know ahead of time you will not be able to see everything! Plan ahead so you can see what you really want to. You will enjoy it no matter what but if you rush, rush, rush I think you will not enjoy it as much!
I stayed for 11 days last year and my relatives thought I was crazy...they thought that was too long. Actually, it was not long enough!

Our first ever trip to WDW was for 1 week, staying at the All Star Music - no kids in 1996, but that was when there was just 3 Disney Parks and 1 Universal park. We had a 4 day Disney hopper - 1 park per day and the extra day went back to what we liked best, and one day at Universal. We also had 1 full day shopping.
I think it worked ok - the parks were desserted which made life a lot easier. I would go back again for just 1 week, but would stick to all WDW and no Universal, stay onsite and go at a quiet time of year. :teeth:

If you can make it before the Christmas hols then go for it, the parks are quiet and the decorations are up making it extra magical!

I've been for a week on 4 occassions, 3 times around about 3rd or 4th December and once at the very end of October. It's always just been adults no kids. I have always seen everything I wanted to because of fastpass and travelling at very quiet times of year. I always get to the parks at opening as well and know the attractions that I want to see.

Not sure how we managed it but me and hubby did Seaworld,Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Magic Kingdom, MGM, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, Blizzard Beach and still managed to fit a day in at the beach! Granted it was 2002 and we got round Magic Kingdom by 1pm then park hopped to MGM in the one day but we really did see most things we wanted to.

Last year I went on a travel agents visit and a lot of the week we were visiting hotels but again we still managed 2 days at Disney (4 parks), 2 days at Universal and a day at Seaworld.

It's all about planning and making decisions about what attractions, parades etc you want to see but I honestly don't feel that I missed out by only going for a week :earsboy:

Personally, i wouldn't ever go for a week, not becuse of what you can or can't do , but because of the jet lag. It takes me a few days to settle properly and then it would be time to go home! If money was an issue, I'd rather wait until I could afford to go for longer - but that's just me!

Stayed for a week the first time my parents and my sister went. The only parks we got to were MK, AK, MGM and SeaWorld. And we did a lot of shopping.

But it's definately worth going, however long for!! :teeth:

when in December? If it's the beginning of December, you can do quite a lot and it's far more pleasant than in the summer....
especially this summer, when the crowds have been oppressively bad....
i think i'd much rather do one week in early December than 2 weeks in July....
the weather is more tolerable in December and the crowds are more manageable...
at least in Disney.....I don't know what it's like at Universal....

I have been for a week and did purely disney only. We loved it. The reason I went for one week only was because I took my daughter whilst my hubbie stayed at home to look after the 5 month twin boys it was a last minute holiday and couldnt get the boys passports in time. I couldnt leave my hubbie at home with the kids for any longer. I would go if this is the only time you could go. The jet lag was not an issue for my 5 year old or I it was when we came home we were tired, but you would still experience that even if you went for 2 weeks.

we stayed last oct for a week in the all star sports without the kids
would do it again no problem
as some one said they would go for a weekend , Me Too :goodvibes

going to New york for a long weekend this Dec

Go ahead and enjoy
But do not try to pack to much into the holiday
take it one day at a time

Thanks guys were gunna go for it. I found virgin flights for £333 flying out of manchester of dec 1st so should have a great time were gunna stay at POP!

I went for a week in march 2 years ago, managed 1 day each in MK epcot, mgm and ak, didn't get to dtd at all, spent the last day of our 5 day tix racing around to do all our faves again, had 1 day free for a shop/pool day too, you CAN do it but you can't do it all! I'd definately do it again if the flights were cheap enough!
