Is one day at Epcot enough?

I am trying to get a rough idea of our plan so that I can book our ADRs on Saturday. We have 7 nights and days. We will be flying in from Las Vegas, on Oct 2, so won't get there until early evening anyway. It will be me, son, 10 and daughter, who will turn 8 on Day 2. So this is my current plan, taking into account EasyWDW recommend parks....

1. MK 9am-7pm
2. Waterpark and then MK for CRT dinner, parade and Wishes (birthday girl)
3. AK 9-5pm
4. Epcot 9-9 and Illuminations
5. MK and maybe DTD later in the day
6. DHS, including Fantasmic
7. Waterpark or 2nd day at Epcot- departure day.


I know I don't have any rest days, so we might not fit it all in. But my kids are pretty tough!

My kids LOVE swimming, so I am thinking they will prefer to do the 2nd Waterpark on our last day rather than Epcot. Or we could combine half a Waterpark day with half of the 2nd MK day on Day 5?

Do I need 2 days at Epcot, or will one be enough if we are there at RD and stay all day/night until Illuminations?

Get park hoppers and combine HS and AK into one day. Epcot is worthy of two days. HS and AK are half day parks for a visit such as your visit. Magic Kingdom and Epcot should be your focus.

We don't take rest days either. I think I would leave it up to the kids and decide the last day depending on the weather and if you feel like you saw everything at Epcot. My choice would be a park day over a water park, but my kids are not big swimmers, I think because we have a pool at home. I would just do what your family wants to do.

We spend at least two days or more in each park except AK because it can be done well in one day. We actually just spent 10 days there and skipped Ak all together because we have been several times and there is nothing new at this moment.

Forgot to say, get rid of dtd and water park stuff. Not worth it for your particular situation. Try not to rest to much. Maximize the trip experience.

I will clarify this by saying Epcot is our least favorite park, but 1 day is plenty at Epcot for us.

Your itinerary looks great. The only thing I'd tweak is DTD. DTD is a complete waste of time. Also, it's a tradition thing for us, but we always like to end our WDW vacation at the MK on the day we leave.

It wouldn't be for me, especially with F&W going on. I'd drop the second waterpark day, personally. But, if you think you and your family would enjoy that more than a second Epcot day, your plans look good as-is! Have fun!

Water parks are just as good as the other parks. If you decide to only do one, I'd do TL, because it has a whole lot more shade than BB. I would definantly have park hoppers. You will want to spend at least one morning at each park, including the water parks. It's a must for us to get to all parks, including water parks at least 15 minutes before rope drop each morning.

I would start your trip with MK and then (if your kids are swimmers or like water parks) do that the 2nd day because it is her bday
AK i would keep and add DTD for that night because the park closes at 5

can u switch DHS to #5 with F! and then on day 6 do half epcot it has emh that night but if u only stay til afternoon it should be fine and half Disneyquest (if you get waterpark tix get waterpark fun and more and u get DQ for free. your kids are at the ages where its fun for them) and on day 7 close with MK again

First off: I would skip the DTD part of day 5. You'll want 2 full days in Magic Kingdom, even with your CRT/Parade/Fireworks evening, and DTD isn't that interesting unless you really like to shop. Splitsville, DisneyQuest, and Cirque are fun but I'd rather be in the parks. If you really want to go over there, I'd put it on the evening of your AK day.

Second: Personally, I would do a second Epcot day instead of a second water park day. But, since you said you guys really like water, you may have a different preference. Maybe you could just decide while you're there, based on what the kids want to do and on how much you get done at Epcot on your full day?

How much there is to do in Epcot is mostly a personal preference anyway. If you don't care to walk the World Showcase, peruse the shops, sample the food, see the films and shows and live entertainment, etc then one day might be fine. Future World isn't that big or extensive.

I agree, we won't be resting if we don't need to. I am just mindful that it is the kids' first overseas trip and they need to last 4 weeks of Las Vegas, Orlando and New York!

We always spend 2 days in Epcot simply because there is so much to see. We've been probably 10 times and still haven't seen every Country.

For us, it isn't. But, we only do AK half a day and more often than not, skip DHS. We don't do the waterparks and usually spend at least one night at DTD. The majority of our time is spent at MK, with Epcot coming in close behind.

Yes, it is our big trip for quite a few years! I figured there was no point spending thousands of dollars on airfares and a 15 hour flight for a short trip.

Great plan. Not sure if this is a first trip to WDW but I would do a full day in each park and then add time from there. Of course MK is always first to get additional days. For my family HS will be next to get a second day. But my kids are much younger . I would do both waterparks if that's what your kids like. But always leave wiggle room. Weather or other factors can change the trip dynamic in a blink I can eye. Have fun!
