Is October becoming Popular?

We were in WDW October 15-20 and had a different experience. Yes, Epcot was busy probably due to Food & Wine (not a ton of kids) but MK was very quiet on Sunday, 10/19. It was glorious! No more than a 10 minute wait for any ride except for Space Mountain. Loved it!

Just got back last night for a Friday to Sunday trip. Epcot not that bad Friday afternoon. Went to MK on Saturday morning and it wasn't that bad. Went back to Epcot Saturday night for the Party for the Senses. I have never seen that many people at Epcot before (Jan, Sept, & Oct trips only). Sunday morning went to HS and overall wasn't that bad. I was on the rope when the park opened. The usual race to Toy Story. By 11 there was a 2 hour wait. Only a 10-15 minutes for Tower of Terror. Went to MK later in the afternoon (MNSSHP that night) and the crowds weren't as bad as Saturday afternoon.
There was a 2 week Fall break for the English so there were lots of English people there. October crowds seem to increase every year since 2003 when I started going.

We were there from Oct 12 - 19 and found manageable but increased crowds from recent years. The strange part was that MK was the LEAST crowded park each time we went. We hopped multiple parks per day for different things and MK never felt really busy.

On the other hand - DHS and Toy Story Mania in particular is immensely popular and fast passes were gone relatively early each day. We took advantage of early extra magic hours one morning and we able to ride it a couple times including a fast pass run, but by 10:30am it was PACKED. Talking standby of 150 minutes!

Had a great time and really enjoyed the booths at Food and Wine and didn't really have to wait for any that long.

This was our fourth October in a row and the most crowded ever. We are switching to November next year in hopes of still catching the end of F&W and fewer people.

Some kids are in year-round school and their schedule has them out October/early November. At least our track out schedule starts the middle of October and goes to early November. That's why we always went in October. I think this is the last October though. I have never met the rudeness I have met in the last week at Disney. At the Block Party Bash yesterday at DS - I was kicked in the butt at least 20 times by an obnoxious teenager, stepped on, kicked and hit by an obnoxious older guy who would not listen to the cast member when he told him no at least 20 times also. I was in tears by the end and have the bruises to prove. No one said "excuse me" or "I'm sorry". The cast member did come over and apologize but he did nothing wrong except to try and stop the others. It was horrible.

We noted that we our feet were stepped on by strangers, rolled over by strollers, legs hit by strollers and wheelchairs more this trip than ever before. Why does the rudeness have to come out at Disney?

This is so sad to read. I know you don't want to be bullied, but at some point, I would have left. This could not have been fun.

We were there Oct 18-25 and the crowds were large, but because we normally go the first week of December, we found the crowds to be comparable to that time period.

One tip we did employ was to never visit a park on the day there are extra magic hours. Avoid those parks like the plague! Our last day was spent at Epcot on a day it was open until midnight, and we got our fastpass for Soaring at 10 am and had to come back at 4:30 to ride!

I'd agree with this wholeheartedly. I would also add to visit the parks with extra magic hours the next day. Most of the guests who visit the extra magic hours park the day before will more than likely not visit the following day.

We were there the 12-18th - I thought crowds smaller than last year the same week - or maybe we managed the parks better - I think its really hard to tell whether you've managed to zig when everyone else zagged or if you hit a slower time. No extraordinary rudeness (but we've avoided anything that draws a crowd for years - parade lineups got too rude for us back in the 1980s and we have only bothered a very few times since then - there is something about parade lineups in particular that seem to attract the cretins in society). We've been going for a long time in October as well - and its gotten busier - but the most noticible change happened about five years ago when F&W was extended.
