Is October a Good Time To Go?

We've gone in December, liked the good temps, and low amounts of lines. Is October good for those things? Is there a specific time in October when lines are lower?

Or is December only okay for that?

TIA :-)

If its a time of year when most schools are in session, its a great time to go.

If its vacation or break time... the parks will be overflowing..

Using the above logic... October is great.

Actually October has gone from being a less busy time to being one of the favorite times to go. You have the golf tournament, many conventions, schools have fall breaks in Oct., the Halloween Party and the beginning of the Food and Wine Fest.

During the week will be less busy than the 3 day weekends. But don't except the parks to be empty.

Been in October 2002, 2003 and 2005 (always last week). Most lines never over 15 minutes (with some exceptions like Soarin)...

October is great! I love going in October and will be going back next year... I so love halloween and that is why I need to be down there during october

So glad to find this thread. We are going from 10/29 to 11/5 and I was wondering what the crowds would be like. I've been there the second week in September (minimal crowds but still very hot) and the first week in December for the MVMCP (crowds weren't bad at all and the weather was better). We wanted to try MNSSHP and hope to find that the crowds are still minimal and the weather a bit cooler than early September.

I agree with the previous poster who said that October has become busier and busier. We have been 3 times in the last 5 years in October, and each time it was busier than the trip before.
It isn't anything near as crowded as in the summer, but there are lots of people and there are lines for the rides. Gone are the October days when you could plan on walking on all the rides with no wait.
Many schools now have a Fall break, there is the Food & Wine Festival which is very popular, MNSSHP has begun, there is the PGA Funai Golf Classic and the Festival of the Masters in DTD. Many years Jersey week and Super Soaps weekends fall into this time frame too.
Even with all of that, we love October. We love the F & W Festival, and the weather is great. We now just plan on moderate crowds and waits at some of the rides. It really is all in your expectations. I would plan on it being more crowded and busier than early December and then just go and enjoy!!

We went last October during the last week. Compared to when we went in April, the lines were shorter. We try to avoid the parks during the extra hours, so maybe our strategy paid off. We are going again this October during the last week again.

Enjoy your trip :thumbsup2

I agree with the PPs. I have been in April, October and December and liked October the best. Lines weren't long at all and weather is still warm enough to go swimming...

Then again, is there really a BAD time to go???

We were there last year Oct. 22-29 and the crowds were very managable. Even at the MNSSHP. The temps were really pretty good also with the exception of the day of th hurricane. It left us with a little wind which made it just a little chilly. The next day it was very comfortable and so was the rest of the week.

I have been several times in December and LOVE it- last year we tried October (middle Oct.) and we thought it was wonderful. The temps were perfect- warm enough to swim but not really hot- crowds were very similar to Dec. (only slightly busier - in my experience)

Keep in mind that earlier in October you will find very hot and humid weather.

Watch out for weeks when NY or NJ have school out. Seems like the whole state moves down to Orlando then.
