I've never seen this movie before, I went to our local Blockbuster to rent but was told they sold the only copy they had to a customer that rented it. I thought it would be good to watch given the fact we are going to mnsshp in a couple of weeks. The girl at blockbuster said i could purchase a copy for $17.99 Canadian, and she would order it in. I just wondered what others thoughts were regarding this movie. I know Tim burton can be a little off the wall but I was wondering if you guy thought it was suitable for a 5 and 8 yr old. Thanks for your help guys..once again! Only 11 more days!! :sunny: :cool1: :cool2: :jumping1:

We only saw it once and didn't like it at all. We bought it on our trip to Disneyland last year because the Haunted Mansion out there was all decorated for the Nightmare before Christmas so we wanted to see what the hullabaloo was about. It was a severe disappointment for us and we're sorry we purchased it instead of renting it.

My older daughters love this movie. My husband and I also love this movie. We have the VHS tape and DVD. If you like Tim Burtons movies you will like this. He has a new movie out called Corpes Briide. We saw that too. Loved it.

I personally would not spend 50 cents on it, but my older brother thinks it is wonderful.

I ADORE Nightmare Before Christmas, but that's just me. I love the attention to detail, the music, everything! I bought our DVD at Border's. My DH bought a second copy of it at the school garage sale. I also have the soundtrack on CD and we listen to it in the car.

Some of the imagery is scary, in my opinion. My DS started watching it last year when he was 8. Young kids might be scared of the things in Halloween Town (like the guy with the axe in his head). DS likes it, but he doesn't LOVE it the way I do.

My DD is 4, and loves both the movie and Jack Skellington. In large part, this is due to my husband's love of the movie. They have watched it together so many times!!! DH is a big Tim Burton fan, and we just went to see Corpse Bride on Friday night. The Nightmare Before Christmas movie is one that DH and I went to see on a date together about 12 years ago. If you like Halloween, or claymation animated movie, or Tim Burton...you'll love it.

I would ask yourself "Do you like Tim Burton Movies"? Are you a fan of Oingo Boingo? If you say yes to either of those, then chances are you'll love the movie. It's a little dark for some people but it's a charming story and a nice movie to watch around Halloween. My oldest daughter loves it. It's been her favorite movie since she was about 7 years old. My youngest likes the songs, but she's a princess girl and "monsters" aren't her cup of tea. It's definitely better than Tim Burton's new movie "Corpse Bride". I'd say if you own other Tim Burton movies, you'd be safe to buy this one. If you don't own any other movies by him or if you haven't really LOVED his work, you probably should just wait til you eventually get to rent it.

I loved it... I personally love Tim Burton's movies though though. It is a great movie with an interesting story line and it is absolutely visually stunning... In my humble opinion of course. I bought it. This is one of Burton's best.

We LOVE this movie!! We have loved it before it became "cool" :cool1:
Great movie great imagery great story!!

I remember seeing it with my friend opening night when I was in high school...have loved it ever since

Our entire family adores it...we listen to the soundtrack in the car daily and my 4 year old has the entire thing memorized:) Great story, great music...I would definitely recommend it:)

Look at the previews of Corpse Bride. If that looks interesting, Nightmare may be your cup of tea, too. I love it. I'm amazing at the technology behind it. It's stop motion photography. Every character is real (a small moveable puppet) and is moved a fraction of an inch, then a movie frame is taken, then they move the characters another fraction of an inch, another frame is taken, and so forth. It takes hundreds of hours of work for just a few minutes of film. I'm just amazed at the process. The music is very good, too.

::yes:: My DD & my DS (10) both are huge fans of The Nightmare Before Christmas. My DH is a big Jack Fan - "The Bone Daddy". I have never watched the movie but they watch it often. Good luck on your decision!

We love Nightmare before Christmas, the music is great. We saw Corpse bride last week and fell in love with that one too! Its got such a great story, very heartwarming.

I just love the movie. The rest of my family enjoy it and will sit and watch it when I watch it.

I love this movie and so does DH, but we wouldn't show it to our DS 6 and DD 4. They would definitely be scared. My SIL hates the movie. All DH has to do is start humming one of the songs and she gets completely upset.

It really depends on your taste in movies. This one is definitely on the strange side and much darker than the typical Disney movie, but it is well-done and the story is a good one. I would recommend it, but make sure you watch it first before showing it to your child.

I guess the avatar is doin' the talking!

I find Nightmare Before Christmas a wonderful, truly imaginative feature. Definitely different from other animated features but a work of art! His newest Corpse Bride is, IMHO, even better!

Frankly, I found this movie boring. I think I even fell asleep at the theater. And I am a huge fan of Tim Burton movies. I did enjoy Corpse Bride though. I don't think it necessary that you buy this movie to enjoy MNSSHP. We were there on Friday for the first night and the party is not centered around the movie. There are some references to it in the parade and during the fireworks, though. The general them seemed to be Disney Villains. So, if you are into Jafar or Malificent, you will love it. :maleficen

Love Love LOVE this movie!! I don't think its scary for little kids, if you present it as these guys aren't scary, they're just different, which is kind of the point of the whole movie. I think as long as you watch it with your kids they won't be scared, its funny and the songs are very catchy! :cool1:

I have never seen the movie, but my 16 year old loves it and her birthday is coming up so I began to look to buy it for her. I started with a search on ebay and ended up buying it on Wal-mart.com. It was only $13.99 (US) and I didn't have to worry about the bidding or getting a used copy.

Sorry I couldn't help with a review of the movie, but hopefully if you end up buying it maybe you can save some money.
