Is National worth $320?

I rented with National once a few years at MCO and the experience was good. I'd like to rent a minivan from them again for our next trip (Oct 14th am pickup - Oct 23 evening drop off) but the rates aren't even close to my current Dollar ressie for $417 (with all fees and tax). No matter what codes I use I can't get closer that a $320 difference. While I think National's system of picking your own car is great and worth something extra the difference just seems too high. On other trips I've used Thrifty, and Dollar without any problems and no lines (I joined Blue Chip and Dollar Express long ago).

Thank you to all who comment.

Heck no. :)

You might look at Alamo, National's "sister" company. I just changed my early October rental from National to Alamo and it was literally half as much!

Use the kiosks at Alamo and it's almost as convenient as National. You do your thing at the kiosk and go straight to your car.

They're good, but they're not THAT good. I wouldn't spend that much more for National or Alamo, and I'm a very dedicated customer. That's almost 2x more!

Have you tried Alamo? Their rates are lower than National's by just a bit, and it's the same company and same cars in the garage.

If you are using a Visa for your rental, you can get it for $607 with code and coupon AD8219SDM. That's still high IMO, though!

Keep watching - you might see the prices drop in a few weeks.

Tried it again, the difference is now up to $335. Are people really paying that much more for National???
