Is my daughter 2 or 3?

All persons staying at WDW via the same reservation are required to be on the same plan. This means if DW, DD13, DD4, DD1 and I go to WDW on the same reservation in the same room, we must all have the same options on our MYW tickets. If one person wants the DDP, all of us are required to have the DDP; if three of us want the park hopper option, we all must have the park hopper option.

You will not be able to opt out of the DDP for your 3 year old. You won't have that option if you purchase her the park admission (which IMHO is the ethical thing to do). If you start out on an unethical foot you will have to be sure the child who is excited to be three now goes along with the deception.

I hope you make the decision that will work out for the best..........remember, our children learn from the example we set for them.

This is only true if you have booked a package, if you just have a room reservation, then each person in the room can get a different ticket and not everyone has to have the park hopper option or the same number of days on their ticket. I lot of people buy their tickets online or thru the Disney Store before they go WDW so these things can be purchased separately.

Now I understand the OP is booked on a package with DDP, I just wanted to clear up about reservations and tickets in general.

My intention was an explanation of "package" policy, not individual ticket purchases. Since they are doing/getting the DDP I was addressing the situation as it was presented by the OP. No more, no less.

Thanks for the clarification proudmomof4!!! :thumbsup2

We have a similar situation.

My DS will turn from 9 to 10 in the middle of our upcoming trip.

Here was the official word from a manager at CRO:

Tickets & dining plan pricing will apply to the age of the child when you first check in. The rates will not change. So my 10 year old will be treated (price-wise) as a 9 year old for the entire vacation.

I asked to confirm that, especially with the DDP and he said that he would only be $10.99/day. Now, he can also only order off the kids menu. So there will be 1 or 2 TS restaurants that we will pay OOP for him to order off the adult menu.

But that is the word from Disney!

Another vote for checking in a day early.

Don't forget with the dining plan you get A LOT of food. Each person gets an entree (w/ side and salad) an appetizer and a dessert. Chances are the 3 year old could just eat one of the appetizers (or just pick off of everything)... but you get my point.

As to the added cost (1 night of hotel and $35 x 2 plus tax for DDP) if its a big deal just check out a day early??

Just thought about that, but my original point is you will have plenty of food. She'd have to pay for any buffets (unless you do one on the 25th)

...the DDP includes appetizer, entree, dessert and soft drink. In almost every instance we have in our experience with DDP the salad is not included with the entree; the entree includes a vegetable and a starch. If you were to get the salad, it often counts as your appetizer. Sometimes the server may overlook this, but I would not count on it when figuring your possible expenses.

:offtopic: I know this is kind of off topic, but if the OP is trying to figure what is best for her budget, I would hope she is aware of all the facts of DDP ordering.
