Is MVMCP Worth It?

Hi

We will be booking to go away in November next year, we cant decide whether to go earlier in the month, so we would see the lights or go later in the month so we can go to MVMCP?

The reason we can not decide is because. We will be travelling with our twin boys who will be 3 on the 18th November. Which would mean we would have to pay for two tickets to WDW.

If we left on the 9th November we would just be able to see WDW and as they turn 3 we could go elsewhere. i.e Gatorland, Kennedy or shopping.

If the party is worth it then we would change the dates to leave on the 15th November. So we could go to one of the parties at the end of November.

We went to MNSCHP and we loved it. We were amazed with the fireworks. The christmas one sounds so sweet with the snow.

Please help us as we just can not decide at the moment.

Tricky one!

How much extra is it going to "cost" you if you delay your trip in terms of you having to pay for tickets for your twins?

I suppose you will have to weigh up the cost of this - I seem to remember you saying you were trying to do it as cheaply as possible.

Are you looking at 2 x extra tickets for all the attractions, eg WDW, Universal etc, also at the WDW buffets etc I think 3 is the age you have to start paying for food, so all of this (I think) could add up hugely.


Is one night at MVMCP worth all that? To my mind, absolutely not. It's great fun but it's not hundreds and hunderd of pounds worth of fun!

If one night at MVMCP equals admission costs only then definitely, yes.

We did this last year with DS who had just turned 2 and we had a great time. The snow on Main Street was great and the parade was not to be missed.
If you are thinking of the cost an option would be to hop into Magic Kingdom if you are at another park on one of your days and see MK during the day light and do some of the attractions that are not to be missed during the day. Then go to MVMCP (you will get 5 hours in the MK) and spend your time doing the in door rides without all of the queues.
When we went last year it was a Thursday early December and it was busy. When we did MNSSHP this year we did it on a Friday early October and the park was lovely not busy at all.
I would miss the photo to be honest as you stand in line for 30 minutes + and it isn't great quality. But do not miss the hot chocolate or cookies.
I think it is a great way of getting in the festive spirit and I would do it again.

I enjoyed it, but it was very crowded when we were there. The snow was very very light. The cocoa and cookies were nice- but not worth the price of admission. I don't plan to go again, but then I don't have young children and so wasn't interested in many of the rides.

Just one thing, the lights do not go up until Thanksgiving weekend, The third Thursday in November.
both the lights and MVMCP are on at this time.

Personaly I don't think its worth it, the only real difference is the fireworks display which is fantastic, oh and the suvenoir (sp?) photo you get, apart from that its all the same, we did it December 2004, I wouldn't be in a rush to do it again.

Ok this is a hard one to answer because we had a great night and we got on all the rides we wanted quickly, we got out hot chocolate and cookie’s a few times, while the snow on main street was like a soapy bubble mix that looked like snow (however the kids where fighting with me saying it was real snow and I had to give in LOL) put was cold. I was well a really nice night, only dumbo here picked the wrong place to stand for the fireworks ( I been a few times before so you think I would get it right). To answer your question if money not the issue booked it and do it, 3 year olds will believe it snowed and love it, but if you can’t they are hardly going to know they missed out as the rest of the time I am sure they would have had a great time. I paid around $320 for that night, no one in my group probably had a clue what it cost, but I know going on what they all said they really enjoyed it.

And the reason it was hard to answer is I remember e-ride nights and I loved them from a purely getting on rides point of view. When we went time before this, it was the highlight of the holiday, nothing like going on Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain and not having to get off so you can go around again and again

No your right. We are worried about the additional cost of the tickets. We were trying to think say if we go WDW earlier in the holiday and buy 5 tickets for MVMCP then that would be ok, but we would then perhaps have to buy some tickets for IOA. I have seen Universal offer a 2 day park with a free child, so we would only have to pay for 1.

Yes we are trying to make it cheap, but now my dh is keen to go he is adding these little extras.

I have said to Bruce that I would like to take the boys to MK on thier birthday go to Liberty Tree Tavern to celebrate it, so we can get them a badge etc... that we may only have to buy a cheap base magic your way ticket.

I think we will need to sit down and make a trip planner i.e work out what days we would like to go where then we may know exactly how many days we may need for the boys to enter after 17th November. Desciions, descisions.

The lights in MGM and MK were definitely up this year by the 14th and 15th November which was the Monday and Tuesday about 10 days before Thanksgiving. I think others said they saw them even before this.

From memory this was earlier than usual - someone on another post suggested they had gone up earlier, something to do with hurricanes? They were switched on, and the trees were all up, whatever the reason may be. Maybe call or email Disney directly and see if they can give you a date for next year.

I've heard that lots of people 'lie' about their kids ages if they're right on the borderline like your twins will be (just turning 3)....
in other words, they just take them in as if they were 2.......especially if their kids are small...
i never did this (my kids were so tall from birth they always looked 20 years older than they are ) but i really don't see anything wrong with it...
disney makes plenty of money off of you as it is....

Its a good idea, but my boys are big for twins and would hate to be asked for thier passport and I dont have coz they are three.

Its an idea to think about. Just pends whether they would refuse them or not.

Beth - I don't think it has anything to do with how much money Disney makes. That to me is just a way of justifying cheating the rules. It's more about your moral compass and what you are and are not comfortable doing.

I fully agree. Our Little 'un is 3.5 and could have got in free, but we chose to pay for a pass for him.

That`s what the CM told my sister when they checked in at POR for a few days stay. She was 9 turning 10 the next day and the CM said " for the purposes of this trip you`re 9"

With the greatest of respects, It's still theft, the CM from his employer and your sister from Disney.

When you book flights fro example, the child turns of age during the trip, you pay for the return at the new price.
