Is MVMCP and MNSSHP worth it for a 11 year old boy?

My son doesn't like Character Meet and Greets, but loves rides and trick or treating. Are the holiday parties worth it? Are the parks really busy on the last day of MNSSHP and first day of MVMCP?

My twins were the same age when we went a few years ago and did MNSSHP.....they had a blast! lots of rides....some of them Halloween themed! just make sure when Disney opens up for the party that you head right to what you want to do first. as for trick or treating....TONS of candy! my kids had more then they could handle so we gave away half of it when we went back to our hotel. Don't think I would go on Halloween due to the crowds and the closer you get to Christmas the busier it will be. We thought both MNSS and MVMCP were both worth the money. What ever you chose, have fun!

We did MVMCP with our son at 11. He really did like it. I would let him choose one, but would not do both.

Have done both, MVMCP without kids and MNSSHP with kids. We do not do Halloween at our house so it was a first for my kids, they had a ball! We are going again this year, we'll sort of my daughter and I are going and my mom and my niece, my DH and DSL are not joining us for the trip. It is lots of fun and you get to see lots of characters that you don't normally see, even though he doesn't do the characters it is pretty cool to see all of the villains out and the fireworks are the best I have seen at Disney. I would not do the Christmas party again although Christ,as at WDW is by far my fave time of the year to be there.

Candy candy candy!!!! Cookies cookies cookies!! Yummy!!!!! I have to say, we all enjoy those parties! We love Halloween - but it's hard to do in our area of the woods, and we love cookies and the feel of Christmas!! So, yes! They may get a little more excited about the Halloween one (candy and costumes) vs the Christmas one (only cookies). But I have to admit, I'm a cookie hoarder. I hit every single cookie station and grab as many cookies as we can and bring them back to the hotel/our house. We are terrible. :rolleyes1 . But a nice family time is held by all, and Christmas party feels very family-ish vs the fun spooky-ness of the Halloween party. Get your costumes, bring your bags and go for it!

Yes, it's MK with villians, halloween colors, special fireworks and trick or treating. Limited tickets so even if it's a swamped crowd time, the party will not be as swamped and plenty to see, ride and tons of candy. You'll never forget trick or treating at magic kingdom.

The characters are in different than normal spots also so easy to see as your walking around without getting in line to meet them.. For example, all 7 dwarves and snow white will be out together near the mine train and not hidden to see them.

I would do one of them at least once. Age 11 is better than 14. We did the Christmas party and I am really glad we did it. Snow on Mainstreet, special shows, hot chocolate.......set the tone for our entire holiday. that being said, I have friends who have done both and they universally say the Halloween Party is the better of the two.

If we had to choose one it would be MNSSHP, our family definitely liked that one a bit more than MVMCP. Headless horseman, the Boo to you song, and the candy, plus we go in some sort of Disney costumes.

We did MNNSHP last year. The kids were 14 and 7. It was okay. Not great and definitely not worth the cost.

We've done MNSSHP a couple times and DH and I are taking a trip without the kids in a few weeks and we are going to hit up the party on our own.

I love it just for the fact that there are almost no lines for the rides. It's great for the kids because they can pack in so much more than they could during the day. At 11, your son should love it. We're in our 40's and we love it!

I am not a big Halloween person but after going to MNSSHP I am now. The parade is great. We had so much fun with the short lines for rides. It was just magical. I just wish we watched the parade and fireworks twice.. it was that good but we were tired and wanted to get to the hotel so we were rested after a long day/night. Note: If you are going to have dinner I believe, unless something has changed, most restaurants are closed once the party starts. Please confirm that but we ate very early right when they opened the gate for the party because I read that on the board.

MNSSHP is worth it for a 1 year old boy. I wouldn't go on Halloween (I avoid crowds at all costs) but we love doing two parties during the week we go.
