Is Mousekeeping really a tippped position? - The Answer!

OK, so I have a question... If you DO choose to tip Mousekeeping, do you leave something each day of your stay, or just at the end?? And if it's just at the end, how do you know that every mousekeeper that came in contact with your particular room will get any of it?

Just curious...??

I tip housekeeping/mousekeeping and have always believed it was a tipped position and always will. The OPs email doesn't change a thing and I'm certain the debate will go on forever.

I tip daily $1 a person.

We always leave around $5.00 a day for the three of us. The Mousekeepers do some tough work and we appreciate it.

You should tip daily. If you wait until the end of your stay, "Mary" gets $25 for "Tina", "Tammy", "Rosa" and "Andre's" efforts.

That's what I was getting at... I just didn't know what people usually do.

They didn't say "don't leave a tip" and they didn't say "you have to leave a tip." They said it's up to the guest as to whether or not they want to leave a tip. Why is this still a debate?

I don't know why it makes any difference what Disneyland does. Possibly their housekeepers are not paid an hourly wage. There might be laws in Florida that says they must be paid hourly, where there may be no such laws in California.

I am not surprised that Mousekeeper is the official job title, but I don't use it when posting. It's too cute for me.

Anyone who does a service for you should be tipped. I worked in a hotel when I was young. Its a lot of work for little money! They pushed us to do one room every 10 minutes! Then they picked on every little thing they could find! It was a hard, stressful, low paying, exhausting job!

I think most people could afford to tip a dollar a day to the people that are cleaning your dirty toilet, sink and shower!

If you need something, they bring it to you! My kids wont even do that for me...LOL!

I wonder why, when you call housekeeping (you have to call them now, when you want late checkout), they answer housekeeping, if they are really Mousekeeping?

I was told by out Mousekeeper last week that tips are pooled (I knew she was going to be gone for the rest of the week celebrating her birthday, so I told her I would wait until Monday to tip her, since I didn't have enough) ..is that not true?

I never thought it was a debate. Those who want to tip, will tip, those who don't, or don't think it's needed, anymore than other castmembers who perform a service, won't.

My letters from guest services are always so curt, and to the point, with as little info as needed..very very professional sounding. Lately people have been getting more "people friendly" messages..wonder if it's some new guest service policy.

Tip each day about $1 per person is what I`ve been hearing.
