Is MNSSHP expected to sell out?

I know there is an official MNSSHP post but I don't even know where to start looking through the 180+ plus pages on that thread. Does anyone know if the party is expected to sell out like last year, specifically in mid-September? I know attendance has been down in general so I didn't know if that would affect party attendance. Thank you!

I'd be happy if it didnt sell out! Last year it did. Which surprised me.

If im not mistaken, they usually post sold-out dates here. I think I recall them posting it here last year?

The first party sold out last year (Sept. 15), the parties on the 18th and 20th didn't sell out and then the next three parties sold out after that.

Here's where you can see which parties sold out:

I may be wrong, but I *think* that the sold out dates will be reflected on MDE when you go to purchase your tickets. It's a place to look in any event.

I wonder if starting the event on Sep 2nd this year will help with the crowds a teensy bit? I have no doubt more people might want to go but adding in a few more days might help distribute the crowds out. I'm sure some dates will sell out though. This year too with the dynamic pricing for certain weekends and the closer you get to Halloween might also impact the number of people at a given party.

There was a poll going around either on Disboards or Facebook about if the 31st party was going to sell out. Last year I think it was sold out by 02 or 03 Aug, but this year tickets are still available. I just did a "fake" order and I could purchase 10 adult tickets for the night of the 31st. Please don't flame me, but I think with higher Disney prices, the alligator attack, the threat of Zika, I don't think a lot of folks are traveling to Disney like they were in the past. I would be happy if the parties didn't sell out. It feels more like a private event when it is not sold out.

I haven't been before but my understanding is that there was a big price jump this year from previous years, especially for the later dates. I think that more than anything may keep the parties from selling out at the same rate.

Were going on the 11th and I really hope its not sold out so it seems less crowded. I am really excited. We did Christmas party in 2014 and it was a mob scene but I didn't have a great plan either. Were doing the Hallowishes Dessert party and Im so excited about not standing with 1000 other people

I think those are all good points too and I wouldn't flame you for it; it's the honest truth of what people are thinking especially when you look at the multitude of threads speaking to all of what you listed.

I also think that the price of $105 plus tax for an adult for October 31st versus the other dates might have an impact too (non-AP pricing listed).

It didn't seem like any dates (and correct me if I'm wrong) were sold out at this point based on Disney's website calendar when you go to buy for the event.

I dont think the alligator attack has any thing to do with people not going down, i think its Zika and the price increase.

What i do think is, we will see more couples rather than families at these events. Its a lot easier for my wife and myself to afford $400 for a single day admission than a family of 5

Do the prices come down if the party does not sell out? I just wondered why people wait to see if it is going to be a sell out? Or are you thinking about how crowded it will be maybe?

.

Thanks I know the Zika discussion has been heated lately! I didn't want it to turn into a "should you go or shouldn't you go topic!" I honestly believe all those factors play a part in folks saying no this year. We switched our night from a Friday night to a Sunday because of the price difference. A $13 difference + tax per person. That's $78 for a party of 6 adults!

For me when coworkers find out I am going to Disney their first question to me is "Aren't you afraid of the alligators there? My family won't be going anytime soon!" Here in Maryland Zika doesn't come into a lot of conversations. The alligator attack is still fresh in their minds.

I don't think they do, but I am wondering if they would do something like the After Hours event - where they offered a discount to APs when no one was buying up all the tickets. Maybe they offer a bigger discount or something. Highly doubt it but you never know.

That would be sweet as candy I'm in if they do that! I decided no this year. The pricing was a little high. But offer me a deal yeah I am back at the table!

They do already offer an AP discount and DVC pricing here's the list below (I'm figuring you already knew that so I was just placing this in here for a reference):

Now granted they could discount them further or for select families give them free tickets you never know on that.

My experience is every MNSSHP party will sell out by the time the party starts... Some dates (especially weekends) tend to sell out the day or two before the party date.. The first few and last few parties usually sell out far in advance although I haven't been tracking this year and don't remember any news on this happening yet which is odd.

If you want to go, pick a date and get some tickets as far in advance as you can...

While we really enjoy MNSSHP it's never a make or break our trip event. As such we normally wait until we get to Disney before buying our tickets. That way we can have a good idea on what the weather is going to before our purchase.

That said, I'm not sure why I didn't do that this year.

Thanks for the answers everyone! I was asking because the crowd is what might make me change my mind about going. I only have two days in the world and one is a party day. At first we weren't going to do it just because of the price but I started thinking we might not be back in the fall anytime soon. The things I would want to experience is the parade, hallowishes, and the show. We don't care about characters. But I started reading that last year the parade seating/standing was 6 people deep and I just can't take that kind of crowd, especially for the price. I thought if the reported lower summer crowds continued into the fall and the party then it might be worth it. I will have to think about it a bit more!
