Is Mission Space: Orange the exact same intensity as it was when it first came out?

DH and I rode MS back in 2004, when there wasn't the green and orange distinction. I'm curious if the only thing that has changed is that they've added the green and boosted up all the warning signs for orange, or is orange actually more intense or different in some way than when it first opened?

I was able to ride it back in the day but if it has gotten any more intense I don't know if I can handle it!

Much discussion on the "intensity" of M:S over the many years since the ride debuted.
There are many who say that the Team Orange spinning capsule pull has actually been reduced.
I've not seen anyone suggest that it is now MORE intense, so I'd say if you think
you can still handle what you experienced years ago, you should be fine.

(OTOH, some folks say that, IN GENERAL, as they age, they can't handle ride experiences as well as they used to. So, consider that.)

For me...the intensity didn't vary....but without my Gary Sinese...well..it's almost pointless to even GO to Mars now. It was going to be him and me....on Mars. Now what am I supposed to do...just visit ??? For what? There's no Target on Mars. There's no ice cream on Mars. ...and no Gary Sinese.:sad::sad1::sad::sad::sad1::sad::sad:

I don't know about intensity, but I do know last time we rode (November 2017,) they had changed the mission and it wasn't fun anymore.

Was this the green side?

They did change it recently, and yes, it is far more tame now that it's just an orbit around earth and not a trip to Mars.

Did the orange side for the very first time last trip. Had always avoided it for fear of motion sickness, but had no problems because I couldn't really tell that it was spinning. (If I had seen the spinning, I'm sure I would have been sick as a dog.)

Hate orange with a passion. Won’t ever go on it again cause it freaked me out and was super intense ( like 5 years ago )

Tried the tame version and almost wanted to go back on the orange.

Go figure.

Yes, green side. I have never been on orange side. If they didn't change the mission on orange, I may have to try it. The green sucks now.

I was disappointed that I didn't get to do the new green side mission this trip. DD7 wants the faster, bigger, higher, spinner rides so wasn't interested in green. DH gets vertigo so I'm the only one who can take her on orange. But maybe I needn't have been disappointed. Is green just boring now or something?

Didn't notice much difference in intensity except I miss Gary Sinese. Just not the same without him on the video.

We were there the day it officially opened. Huge difference between then and now. I don't get nearly the same feeling I used to get, even just five or so years ago. I think they've been making it less and less intense over the years. Used to be you would walk out to the exits and see people bent over the trash cans along the way. I haven't seen that in many years. I used to ride every trip. Now, it's more like every few years.

They now also do everything possible to scare you off the ride. If you were even slightly apprehensive about motion sickness the orange preshow info will have you running for the exit. I know I am very resistant to motion sickness and even I was worried. So this probably reduces the number of susceptible people riding to begin with. Although it can also become a self fulfilling prophecy because there can be a mental component to motion sickness. If you believe you're going to get sick, in some people that makes it more likely that they will.

I enjoy the new Green side, but yes, intensity levels are way lower than the previous Green side. It's much more akin to Soarin', or as some people call it Soarin' WAY Over the World... it also feels shorter for some reason.

Regarding whether the current Orange is still as intense as prior to the updates, it's difficult to tell. Keep in mind it's also possible (though probably not likely) that the centrifuges and ride vehicles may not all feel exactly the same based on maintenance, etc.

I honestly can't decide if I want to attempt orange. I'm not prone to motion sickness (though as I've gotten older I feel maybe VERY SLIGHTLY more sensitive to motion), but I am prone to headaches and I'm worried the spinning could trigger one? Though people have said they don't even notice the spinning so perhaps I'd be fine?

You crack me up. And yes, what IS the point of visiting without him there?

They changed the whole mission for the green side.

Seriously? Why?

How could it have gotten less intense? It was a nice little rock me to sleep ride as it was. Star Tours and Soarin' were already more "intense" than Mars.

Well, with Orange you aren't supposed to feel it AS spinning. It's supposed to feel, to your body, like G-forces, not spinning. But in *some* people who follow every direction and do it all right, they still do feel the spin. So you never know.
