DH calls it Wheel O' Terror or Wheel of Death. And he's done the drop ride on top of the Stratosphere Hotel in Vegas. It is a very pretty ride with the cars swinging gentling in the setting sun. And then you make the mistake of going on one. Stationary I can handle--I love heights. All the roller coasters-no problem. But those swinging cars! It seemed like the ride would never end. We stumbled off it and headed for TSMM where the slight spinning finished us off.
I hate drop rides too, but I tried TOT twice. I can handle it but hate it. I think twice is the good ol' college try. I can do splash when necessary, but never chose to ride it on my own.I can definitely relate to this...I too call it the "Mickey Wheel of Death", and I too can handle roller coaster rides (the only ride I refuse to go on is TOT or the new GOTG only because I can't hand rides that just drop you). And I also have to agree with how it just fits perfectly in Paradise Pier with Screamin nestled right behind it, and when I look at it I just say to myself..."That's not so bad, I can handle it, no problems", until I am already on the thing and then I am saying..."What the (insert a not so Disney word in here) did I get myself into!!!!!". I think that is why I am mustering up the courage to do it again, because I know that I will more then likely be going on it anyways.
What I don't understand is there are seatbelts on heimlech's chew chew train, but NOTHING on mickey's death wheel. There aren't even grab bars anywhere to hang on for dear life as your large toddler hurls toward you. Only teeny tiny mesh windows to dig your fingernails into and pray for it to be over. Ironically, that large toddler begs to go on again every time.
Yes. Mickey's wheel is the scariest ride ever.
I was on a HUGE rollercoaster that broke down as we were almost at the top of a straight 90 degree vertical ascent. We were suspended in the air and then the tracks malfunctioned and we fell backwards (straight down) until we slammed back down to the beginning of the ride.
I would still ride that again before I rode those spinning death containers.
