Is Mears still running

After all I have been reading about Magical Express, I need to know this. Is Mears Transportation still running as far as groundtransportation to the Disney hotels? My mom and I booked our trip last September for our trip in July, before I had ever heard of DME. We booked everything like we did when we went in 2003. I haven't heard good things about DME. I put in a call to our travel agent this afternoon, to make sure we still had Mears and she said we did. I told her what I had been reading on several Disney boards, about luggage arriving to the hotel 6+ hours later. I told her that we would rather take care of our own luggage. At least until the bugs have been worked out of the way DME is supposed to work, however that is supposed to be. Is anyone else handling their own luggage?

The Mears Shuttle will no longer service the Disney resorts.

DME had a rocky start, but has been getting better day by day. You can use DME without the luggage option. Just don't tag the bags, and then claim them yourself.

Is there an additional price for using DME?? We are paying to use Mears Transportation as our ground transportation. And what is this luggage option, to use or not to use? That is the question. (I'm having a Shakespeare moment)

I find that hard to believe that they don't service Disney resorts at all. I realize the advance reservations are gone on the website.From what I understand you have to book DME 10 days in advance. If you decide to make a last minute trip and walk up to Mears desk, I can't believe they won't sell you a ticket.

POOHGAL--ME is free. Contact your TA and ask for a refund for your Mears transfers. Have them sign you up for ME. If you get your tags in time use them.

Carol--With ME being free I can't imagine Mears will have enough potential customers booking in the 10 day window to run a shutle bus service. I suspect if you book within the 10 day window you'll be allowed to use ME but without the luggage tags. Alternatively Mears might have an arrangement with Disney to put those customers on ME buses.
