Is MDE Down for Anyone else today 5/21/16 ?

:scared1: If I didn't get my room by check-in time, I wouldn't be a happy camper either. They should have at least given free vouchers for a meal, a drink or something!
Nope. You had to pay for your meals, if you wanted to eat before they got it fixed, and then get the charge credited to your card and the dining plan applied, later. It was just me, DD and DGD so that wasn't a big expense but I thought then, what if you came with a large group, thinking all your meals were paid for and find out that nope, you have to pay for this one, or more, it was a full day without their computers. With a large family that could be a vacation killer for some. Not everyone has emergency money to spend on vacation, right or wrong. Not when they think they've already paid for it

I just called to to make a reservation and was told the same thing. They are updating the system and to call back in a few hours.

I'm pretty sure updating the system most times is Disney code for "The computers crashed and we are desperately trying to fix things". I will say that on one of our trips they were actually "updating" the system and we received notices both in the mail prior to arriving and at our room that they were updating the system one night during our trip and warning that it could affect our ability to use MDE the night of and morning after the update.

I cringe every time I see a post that someone isn't going to take a bag or wallet in the parks because with magic bands they don't need to carry cash or credit cards. Our friends were on the dining plan and in the parks and their magic bands were not working at their TS meal. They were having band issues, not a system wide issue (they also had the joy of being unable to get into their room multiple times during the trip because their bands were not working)--- but whatever it was, when the CMs could not get the bands to work, they were required to pay for the meal right then and be reimbursed later. I don't know what would have happened if they had not had cash or credit cards with them in the park

I bring a card but that is only because I need the DV to get in the M&G spots. Haven't had to use it to pay for meals since MB came about. The trip I'm referring to was before MB
I don't bring cash though.
Though like I said, I'm sure there are families that go to say, Le Celier to eat, planning to use their 2 credits per person, who may well not be able to pay in advance even if they bring their card. I am sure they have to have some method in place to handle that. Some people simply couldn't pay when they think it's all paid for (aside from tips)
Since the food has been eaten it's not like they can take it back.

Hmm... Yeah I'm getting intermittent success with Ohana now...

(and by intermittent success I mean it's sometimes telling me there are no tables available! :D )

So glad I read your post. I was trying all morning getting the "unable to..." message. Then I ran out to the grocery store. Came back and got the "no tables available" and was kicking myself for not staying home. (Thought it booked up while I was out)

I work in IT, and would hate to be them right now... you know its not good when that timeline keeps getting pushed back!

It might have - what dates are you going for? Ohana tends to book up pretty quickly but, on the good side (so long as you're still a few months out), slots tend to open up pretty frequently.

Sept 4th. There were several times open late last night but it wouldn't let me book any dinner times unless I canceled my Yak n Yeti ADR for the same day. I didn't want to make that "executive decision" (LOL) w/o consulting with the rest of the family (young adults kids/DH) So we did discuss it (around 11pm) but I figured I'd make the change in the morning. Right away this morn the site was not working. So I'm hoping that the times that were there around 11pm are still available since booking has not been available for anyone all day so far (at least that's the buzz here)
I agree tho, even if it's booked, times DO open up and you can get one if you are diligent about checking. My friend always texts me about hard to get ADRs that she's snagged last minute.... Like to Ohana and CRT!

In December we were at Garden Grill and our MB wouldn't work for charging. Somehow our credit card wasn't linked properly to our account. Thank goodness we had a credit card with us. We were able to pay for it with the credit card and then later were able to go to the front desk at BW and get it sorted out. I would never go to the park without a credit card for reasons like this.

Actually, I think I would refuse. I would have paid for the dining plan & it would be their responsibility to figure out a way to make it work. That's ridiculous.

I was just reading over on the reservation page and people werent able to make their 180 day reservations today! Heading into the week of thanksgiving! I would not be happy at all!!!! Disney should just shut it all down, fix it and start it up at 6am tomorrow.

So I just posted on Facebook that I'm leaving for WDW tomorrow and a friend messaged me that the whole system is down, you can't use the DDP today, they are handing out paper fastpasses as well. So this is apparently a very big system crash.

I read that on another board also

I don't understand how a company this large has so many issues with their website!!! This is a constant!!!!

We are here now. We had no problems in Animal Kingdom today with fast passes or dining plans, but went to Disney Springs to eat dinner and the dining plan wasn't working anywhere! We had to pay for our meal out of pocket tonight (was not in the budget). People were also having trouble checking in. I bought a new magic band at the park today and went to the desk to see about getting it to unlock the room door and they said they couldn't access the system at all. So I'm not sure people are getting their rooms either.
