Is Matterhorn really that great of a ride?

I really enjoy the Matterhorn. I believe you will too, when you will have an opportunity to go on expedition. Like previous posters have stated, it will not ruin your trip. And you can at least enjoy the view of the Mountain top, and I would think take pictures of it as well. I hope that you and your family will have an awesome time!

I hope you get to ride it. For me, the Matterhorn is simply iconic of Disneyland and it's early roots. I'll be there in 2 weeks to it closed as well, and I considered cancelling our trip. I know! I'm a goob.

On the other hand, my DH feels like everything there is to see about the Matterhorn can been seen from the ground. There are others still who find it hokey (boo!).

Try to soak up all the other classic attractions while you are there, and you won't miss much!

Hokey? Oh my ...... I know some people do consider it, to be just that. I don't argee either.

I would love to see Expedition Everest come to Disneyland!

I know how you feel. I am visiting in 1.5 week, and will be my first time. I have been to WDW Orlando many times, and Matterhorn is one of the best known rides in Disneyland. I dont know if/when Ill be in Disneyland again, since Orlando is closer to relatives. So I am definitely bummed too.

Many will disagree with me, but I compare Matterhorn with the Orlando version of Space Mountain, except of course that SM is indoors. SM and Matterhorn are equally jerky to me, although SM has more tight turns. The DL Space Mountain is far, far superior to the MK version. Also, if you enjoy the wonderful Expedition Everest ride at AK, you would get to see the original Yeti (abominable snowman) inside the Matterhorn (no strobe lights needed).

It's a bummer that you'll miss the Matterhorn, but it won't ruin your trip. Just a good reason to visit again some other time.
