Hi Everyone!! I was wondering if you can tell me if Margaritaville and/or Sloppy Joes is within walking distance of the ship?? :confused3 Thanks for all your help!!

If you're talking about Key West, everything is within walking distance of the ship.

Ooops I did forget to mention that!! Yes I was talking about Key West!! Thank You!!!

If you are taking a Western, in Grand Cayman, Margaritavile is about a three min. walk from the ship. It even has a waterslide for all to enjoy for free. Just one word of warning. The dollor has very little value in the Caymans.

I would vote Sloppy Joe's......even Hog's Breath is the more "real" Key West.

You can walk to all of them..Have Fun!

If your going on the Western and stopping in Key West, there is a Fat Tuesdays, with all kinds of Margaritas and other cocktails, if thats what your looking for.

We always stop by there for a drink on the way back to the ship, and it is in walking distance.

Key west is only a 2X4 island so yep you can walk anywhere and everywhere unless you have small kids - you will find more locals at Crabby Dicks which is also on Duval Street - FYI - right in front of Sloppy Joe's there is a cam that folks get in front of with a cell phone in their hands so their families can see them that they really are in Caya Hueso (streets of bones) aka Key West aka as "the rock".
I know cause I am from the rock

We are also going on the 2/23 Western! I am a total Jimmy Buffett fan and hope to stop by Margaritaville too. I'm glad to hear that it is pretty easy to get there from the ship.

Yes, I'd suggest the Margaritaville at Grand Cayman as well if you're on the Western. I wouldn't suggest eating in Grand Cayman as it's expensive.

I just wish I knew there was a Margaritaville in Cozumel as well.

Unfortunately, we won't be visiting any ports with a Margaritaville on our next cruise.

Fat Tuesday's is a chain so we never go there.......we look for the real atmosphere.

If you have time to have a meal on land make it a point to go to Blue Heaven!!! The food is wonderful!

(They also make an outrageously delicious Mojito!:lovestruc)

I love Margaritaville in KW, it's about 2 blocks from the ship, there are many bars and shops along the way....have fun!:thumbsup2

Actually Margaritaville is in the 500 block of Duval so it is five blocks from the dock. It is a 10-15 minute walk depending on how fast you are going. Definetly doable. We stayed in the La Concha Crown Plaza a couple of years back (400 blk Duval) and got blisters from all the walking back & forth to Mallory Square. But we did it several times/day.

Sloppy Joes is fun too, but no food. Slightly rougher crowd at the Hog's. I agree with PP about Blue Heaven though that is not walking distance. They have an awesome breakfast (seafood eggs benedict...pecan pancakes...fresh squeezed mimosa's!) And the atmosphere too. Its on Thomas ST....quite a bit south and east of the main drag. Kindof towards the southernmost point (which is also not really within walking distance). If you want some "real" key west food that is in walking distance, I'd have to recommend BO's fishwagon, it's right near the seafront on Caroline st. (Parrotheads? There's woman going crazy there ;) ) It is quite the dive.....centerpiece is a rusty 1950's era Ford Pickup truck...but omg the grouper sandwich?? Melt in your mouth!

Margaritaville KW's menu was quite a disspointment last time we were there. They had dumbed it down unbelievably. Great atmosphere though. It's about 1/5 the size of the one in Orlando....and is more "real key west" (you won't find any exploding margarita volcanoes here!).

If you've never been.....you really should ride the conch train. Lots of fun, and great history and info too. We used to spend weeks at a time down there several times per year back in the 70's..and since we were on a budget, my dad used to drive around behind the conch train with the windows down listening to the narration! What a hoot! But if you ride the train before you head out walking you will be more familiar with the locations of the places you want to see.

And obviously if you've spent ANY time on this board you know about the choclate covered key lime pie on a stick. DON"T MISS IT!!!!!:thumbsup2

Have a wonderful cruise!

Yes, there is a Margaritaville in Cozumel.
It is tame compared to the other Carribbean M-ville's (no water slides or swim-up bars or the such). I believe it is right near the dock, overlooking the ships.

We'll be hitting it in Sept.!:thumbsup2

The earlier poster said everything in Key West is walkable and they are 100% correct.

When we go down to KW, I park my vehicle when I arrive and I don't see it again until we head home. Everything is walking distance away... your definition of what is a tolerable walk may vary, but walking is a valid option.

We usually stay almost directly at the intersection of US1 and Duval Street. We walk to Smathers Beach (just over 2 miles away) when we go. From the dock to Smathers Beach is 3.2 miles. That's only a 40 minute walk at a decent pace, an hour if you stroll. You also get to really see the place.

I will absolutely disagree with this:

From the port to Blue Heaven is 0.4 miles. If that isn't walking distance... I'm not sure that leaving the ship at all is feasable.

The southernmost point is only 1 mile away. That might be stretching it for some people (as you do have to consider the walk back and I do understand that some people aren't walkers like myself)... but if you are shoppers... just work your way down Duval checking out the bars, shops and whatnot... by the time you reach the end of the street, you will be at the Southernmost point!! Nothing like shopping to get your mind off the distance.

You're telling me... We ate at Hard Rock Cafe for lunch and boy was it expensive!

Agree 100% delicious...

Another place for a inexpensive and great people watching location is Caroline's right on Duval.
The fresh grouper sandwich is out of this world!!!! My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
