I know there are 3 categories of seating. What I'm wondering is if you reserve seats in a category do you get specific seats in that category or is it first come basis for seats in that area? Thanks in advance

When you arrive you will check in at the desk and you will be seated to certain seats, so you cannot choose your own.

Luau seating is preassigned as reservations are made. My credit card was charged when I made the ADR.

To clarify. Is there any advantage to arriving early? Do you potentially get better seats that way or are they pre-decided before you arrive?

I've always been told that they assign the tables in the order in which you book. We ate there in December and booked category 2 first thing in the morning the day our booking window opened. We had what I consider to be the BEST possible category 2 seat in the place (dead center on a riser behind the category 1 folks) so I believe it.

We have done the Luau numerous times and the only way u get a cat. 1 is to pay OOP. The seats are already chosen for you when u arrive,it does not make a difference if you arrive at the podium early.I believe it does make a diffence to book ASAP, I always have booked correct days out and have had front row seats, paying OOP. Used DDP once and had seats that the waitress had her serving trays right in front of us on second tierand had to dodge her serving alot of people every two minutes. Now that was annoying.

Seating is determined by when you make your reservation. I booked my Luau show for my 50th birthday at 7:00 AM on the day you could make the reservations. We had the first row in the very center of Category 1.

Bill's right. If you want to be at the front of your table w/ the best view, book on the first day you can as early as you can. We had front row as well in category 2. Great view but I sort of felt sorry for the family behind us.

OK, here is how HDDR and Luau seats are assigned . . .

1) Person calls and makes ressie, and pays.
2) The date and time are assigned to the ressie.
3) Eight days before the show, the Assigner sits with the guest list.
4) He/she assigns the earliest ressie the best table in that category.
5) This is repeated until all ressies are assigned.
6) Anyone getting a ressie later gets seats after the assigned seats.
7) Thus, the earlier the ressie, the better the seat in the category.
8) You can pick up your tickets 7-days in advance.

NOTE: There is no place/time/method for you to request a specific table.

Hello,
I hope you don't mind me adding in a question here, but it is on topic with the dinner show. It was ages ago when I booked it, and in my notes I wrote down "pick up tickets at concierge desk".
:idea:Now for the question part...which desk would that be? The one at my Disney hotel or the one at the Poly?

Do you have separate tables..or are you seated with others guests?..:confused3
We are a party of two, and didn't want to share a table with other guests.
I was surprised to see that there was availability in category one with only a month out.
If the tables are assinged based on the date of your reservation, does that mean someone making a reservation for category one a month out will have a crummy seat? That's an awful lot to pay for a bad seat.

There really aren't any bad seats. Some are just further away from the action. I haven't sat in the back so there may be someone out there that can advise you better. The tables are long and perpendicular to the show floor, so you will be seated with others. We're going back to see it for a second time in Oct.:cool1:

I know they ask that you check in 1/2 hour before the show. At what point to they reassign seats to walk-ins from the no-shows? Or do they?

Thanks everyone, we're looking forward to it. We booked only about 60 days before so we won't get front row but I'm sure it will be great. It's our first time. Thanks again.
