Is Legoland coming to Florida?

That would be great if it happens, my DD loves lego though guess she may have outgrown it by the time its built, would still visit though.

This is indeed a definite possibility, I work for Merlin, and the idea is definitely on the agenda and has been banded around in one or two meetings now that I've sat in on.

My job has nothing to do with New Business and Property Development side of things, so I can't offer much in the way of info really, but I don't think we'll see anything particuarly soon, a good five to seven years is what i think we can expect. We have LEGOLAND Malaysia and Dubai to come first.

I fully intend on applying for a transfer or at least a secondment to Florida if and when it does open.

Thanks Pete,
I expected it being years away but good to know its a possibilty and not just rumour.

It sounds a good plan for the Splendid China location. I'm not sure how well it would do with all the other theme parks around. We've been to Windsor and Billund and found both delightful but very limited entertainment compared to a Disney park. Definitely a place for families with young children and not somewhere I'd go without children.

I was surprised at how suddenly this happened. My DS was 10 when he started finding it boring but he was dragged along for another couple of years for the sake of his little sister. One year we went a number of times and the next we suddenly realised we'd not even thought about visiting.

My kids have never been into Lego :confused3

I don't think you need to be into Lego to enjoy Legoland.

I dont know the Florida area well enough to know about the locations that link listed... But I totally agree with what you said. LEGOLAND is deffo considered bush league, and putting it in the shadow of the theme park giants that already inhabit the Orlando area will only highlight its short comings....

... Although that said, I'm sure Merlin will realise that they need to do something a bit special compared to its other LEGOLAND's with this one.

Don't let that bother you Nat, if I add up the time it's taken for me to build Spongebob lego and the various Lego Cities, probably equates to about 5 hours.

The kids have played with the end results for about 30 minutes!!!

I find lego quite therapeutic!!! :rolleyes1
