Is Latin Quarter as good as advertised

I already purchased a GC for Latin Quarter when they were $25. I'm wondering if I should try for another tomorrow. Will we like it good enough to want to return? Thanks in advance!

I haven't been there in about two years, but back then we really liked it. We went for lunch and dinner. I loved their chips and salsa. We plan on eating there again during our trip next month.

I ate at Latin Quarter last Saturday night (6/19/04) and I thought that it was pretty good. I had a raspberry mojito, fundido queso with shrimp. I've never had fundido before, but I thought that it was salty. My entree was a cuban sandwich which came with rice and black bean soup. I ordered a side of plaintains. The Cuban was good, so were the black beans. The plaintains were excellent!! The service was good. We did have to wait about 15-20 minutes, but it wasn't a bad wait. My husband wasn't very hungry and just ordered the sampler with wings, etc. which he liked.

Latin Quarter has changed hands since you last visited. Now, as I understand it, it is being run by Universal.

The menu has been cut down drastically and (IMHO) the food is not up to the previous standards (which were exceptional), although quite good nonetheless.

This thread inspired me to eat there again last night and my opinion is just confirmed.

They have kept the basic idea of some of the original dishes (renamed them to make them more gringo-friendly) but they are pale reflections of the originals. The presentations are nowhere near as theatrical and fun and the food quality just so-so. Our dinner entrees arrived luke warm and bland in flavor.

Latin Quarter is also far less of a nightclub now.

OTOH, the shrimp appetizer (cheese-stuffed, bacon-wrapped grilled shrimp) is quite good.
