Is Labor Day considered a holiday…in terms of park attendance?

According to Bob Sehlinger’s “Unofficial Guide…2004,” WDW park attendance is lighter on the weekends in the summer because Saturday and Sunday are usually travel days for the tourists. However, during the rest of the year, weekends (and especially holidays) are the crowded days because school’s in session.

So, where does Labor Day fall? Is it a summer weekend (lighter attendance) or a school-time holiday (heavier attendance)?

Since I’m a glass half full type of person, I’m gonna hope for best. But, since I’ve never been to WDW for Labor Day, I’d be interested in hearing what the veterans have to say.

Thanks.

Hi KelNottAt,

Thanks for reading the Unofficial Guide. We consider Labor Day a holiday in terms of park crowds.

Sincerely,

Len Testa

And this year it may even be more crowded than usual because many FL schools are starting earlier this August.

What does this have to do with Labor Day?? you're asking...well, families like ours that would normally take a quick WDW vacation after summer season ends or after our Seasonal AP black out period is over for the summer will be out of luck because school will have already started (this year is the first year this will happen), so many will probably consider Labor Day weekend the next best time to go (although we won't be doing this--we'll wait another weekend and take dd out of school for a day).

We went last year during Labor Day and I didn't think it was crowded at all. If you ever want to experience the "true" meaning of crowds - go on New Years Eve! That is one heck of an experience. Labor Day was pleasant though, as well as the rest of the week.
