Is Kali River Rapids like Splash Mt?

My 6 year old does not not not like Splash Mt. We've never been on Kali River Rapids and I'm eager to try it (we're always there in Dec when it's too cold to get wet). Is the drop on KRR anything like Splash? I want him to give it a go—it looks like a great family ride!—but I know he won't forgive me if it winds up being as big of a drop. Thanks!

Not at all. Pull it up on YouTube and watch it to be sure it will work for your family.

It's got some drops, the "thrill" comes from the water. There's lots and lots of water. If your kid doesn't want to get really soaking wet, he isn't going to like it one bit. The ride is fun, but you may require a change of clothes or plan to spend some time by the gigantic fans near the exit of the attraction for a while to dry off.

I don't do well with drops and for that reason have never gone near Splash Mountain. The drop on Kali I can handle though. But yes you generally will get completely soaked to the bone which isn't usually the case for SM.

Some guests don't get very wet on the ride.
Others... soaked.

Ponchos are advisable, but don't be surprised if they aren't sufficient.

Poncho's barely work on Kali. They just don't seal enough and when the water washes up from the sides, you're done. Keep in mind on Kali, the boat rotates and it is possible to win the lottery and not get too wet...but probably you'll be the one positioned right under the waterfall and at the perfect angle for the big kasploosh! It's a fun ride though!

I timed Kali so that we were heading to the car right afterwards (we had a change of clothes in the car just in case) but because it was sprinkling a little bit and my children didn't really want to have to change we wore ponchos. We stayed completely dry. The gentleman across the way from us got absolutely drenched, we watched a wave completely swallow him. I don't think a poncho would have helped him.

Definitely check out the videos, Splash is a flume ride while Kali is a rafting type ride.

I am always the ONE in the boat that gets the most drenched. No worries! The hot Florida sun dries you out pretty quickly.

YES - for me - ALWAYS soaked through to the bone. I won't ride it even with a poncho if it's cold out (like in January) becuz I know I'll probably have jeans on (which will NEVER dry) and I'll be freezing after. I wouldn't call it an "intense" ride. It just has the potential to have what feels like 500 gallons of water poured over your head. I usually plan for this ride in the summer by wearing those lightweight jogging shorts which will dry out quickly in the summer heat.

OP - you have to realize that the ride "vehicle" is a large rotating round raft. It spins around a little as it floats down the ride and as it goes down "the big drop" it spins so there's no way to know which side you'll be on when it hits the bottom. When it reaches the bottom the side that hits first gets DRENCHED. Not sure if some of the spinning on the drop may be affected by the overall weight in the raft?! Whoever rides in the seat with me always "gets it" too. They used to have these plastic covered centers in the rafts where you could put your bags. They got rid of those tho and now have free lockers nearby where you can put anything you don't want to get wet (ie cell phones, wallets, cameras). Highly advise taking advantage of those.

I never win the Kali River Rapids Lottery. Always backwards into the splash and get soaked. My wife sits on the opposite side now cause she knows where the splash will be!
