Is Jet Blue scaling back?

I had been watching the flights home from MCO to BDL in September and one of the flights I was watching just disappeared off the search (It left somewhere around 5pm). There is now currently only one non-stop to BDL that day and it won't work for me because it leaves at 8am and I will be getting off a cruise. Southwest has one non-stop that day at 10:30am that day which is also too early.

Weirdly there are very few options that day on other airlines and even then they leave too early. I think I'm looking at having to book another night stay and go home the next day which seems crazy to me.

Is September just a weird time to fly? I've always had plenty of options for flights home.

Wow, thanks for finding that article. I think it's weird that they had already sold some of that flight (I had been checking to see how many seats were left) and then POOF, it was just gone.

So I'm guessing it's highly unlikely they'll add it back?

I regularly fly out of BDL. Post Covid southwest cut most of their direct flights to MCO. During the week they tend to offer 1 early flight (6-8 am) and on weekends they sometimes have an additional direct flight around 4pm.

I refuse to fly jet blue ever again so I don’t follow their flights. Sorry I can’t help with their schedule.

Is a connection through BWI on southwest an issue? That tends to open up more options and as BWI isn’t out of the way and it’s a small airport I’ve had luck getting a short layover there or a flight that connects through there so you don’t have to get off the plane.

Thanks for your reply.

May I ask why? I love Jet Blue, especially since it flies out of Terminal C which is wayyyyyyyy less crowded and nicer than the SW terminal.

Eh, I don't do connecting flights as a general rule. The best SW option turns my 2.5 hour flight into a 4 hour 15 minute flight and I don't want to take off and land twice for such a short flight. And even then it leaves at 11:30 am and DCL doesn't recommend flights before noon so it could be cutting it close.

I boarded the plane on Jet Blue and got to my seat. My row was covered in vomit and not baby spit up but full on vomit. The flight attendant yelled at me for not taking my seat. When I pointed out the problem she handed me 2 dry paper towels to clean it myself and there was not cleaning products to properly clean it. The three of us in our row asked for other seats (the plane was not full) but we were told they would not move us. All three of us opted to exit the flight and rebook with someone else. Jet Blue would not refund our money and both the flight attendants and corporate thought there was no issue with us flying in seats covered in vomit. We were told we were luckily they allowed us to exit the plane and should be grateful for that.

Oh my!! That is truly awful! I'm so sorry that happened to you and I would have done the same thing! That is a safety hazard to be asked to sit in someone else's vomit and what a terrible way for them to handle it!

What was interesting is we were traveling for work so it was our corporate travel department that contacted JetBlue and we took pictures because we weren’t sure if we would get pushback from our company about what we did. Our travel department sent the photos when they reached out to Jetblue They said if this wasn’t resolved our whole company would no longer fly with them and JetBlue was ok with that. We now have a corporate policy that no one can fly JetBlue.

The lack of customer care seemed to be a thing when JetBlue was ending service into LGA too. Had an unpleasant interaction with a flight attendant and was eternally grateful when they change the hub around, dropped LGA and picked up MacArthur. Now I fly Delta and thank goodness for that.

JetBlue still flies out of LGA. I'm on them in August.

I wonder what, if any impact there will be on JetBlue with the partnership announcement with United. That might cause some changes in the next year or two.

ETA just did a quick Google and yeah they are?🤷🏽‍♀️
Of course I’m now happy with Delta so there it goes.

They change things a lot. They used to be my go-to going to BNA from JFK. Then they stopped going to Nashville all together for a while (word was Southwest refused to renew gate leases because they were "competition" in spite of Southwest having no non-stops between LGA and BNA at the time). But they're back flying to BNA, so who knows. For a while they were partnering with American - which I'm guessing is what got them back to BNA - but now the partnership is with United. So who knows.

I'd love to do Delta...sadly they're almost always the most expensive option by a couple hundred dollars even for basic economy.

JetBlue has been cutting down their schedule for quite a while now, even JFK-MCO which is crazy considering both are focus cities for them. My last few times flying them felt like death by a thousand cuts too, and tbh they really haven't been the same since covid. Losing the blue chips in the snack basket was a harbinger of doom, lol. I never had a truly bad CS experience with them unlike pp but the last time I flew with them the cabin crew felt a bit indifferent.

Hopefully the United deal will help their scheduling. Not to bring politics into it but I don't really see it being tossed out by the feds this time the way the deal they had with American was. But I've shifted most of my travel to Delta as a result of the cuts, which is a shame because I loved them, but I've been greatly enjoying my Delta flights. We had an exceptional FA last Tuesday when we came back to JFK, NYC based crew. Delta is very competitive JFK-MCO and have actually been cheaper than JetBlue for our last few trips, whether I check cash or points.

That's crazy, but good for your company for having your backs on that!
