w-ou-ping cough or hoo-ping cough? I've always pronounced whooping cough as w-ou-ping cough, but on the radio this morning, the lady said hoo-ping cough. I think she was wrong.

Neither, I know it as Whopping Cough (spelled that way too) But thats me and my Kentucky side.

Whop-ping? I've never heard it pronounced that way either. I believe the correct spelling is 2 o's though.

I would say "whoop.." too. I think "hoop" is a sloppy way of pronouciation.

The lady that was on the radio misprounces a lot of medical words. And she's in the health field.

I say "whoop" as well, but I have heard medical people say "hoop."

I've always heard it as "hooping."

I remember having it when I was little, but that was more than a few years ago... actually, more than a few decades ago!
