Is it wrong to park your car

Well, technically the street is public property, so as long as it's not a "no parking" zone, it's not wrong.

It is a little insensitive though. I mean, generally I would park my car in front of my own house, not someone else's, unless all the space in front of my own house was taken.

If the neighbor being parked there was preventing me from getting my mail, I'd call and ask them to move thier car, and explain why.

Hmmm...isn't illegal to block the mailbox? And really shouldn't the mailman get out of his truck to get to your box? I would find out about that. I would raise a stink about not getting mail for 2 days.

According to the postal rural carrier contract, carriers are not supposed to get out of the vehicle unless they are delivering a parcel or an 'accountable' mail item (certified, registered, or express mail).

This is one advantage of living in an historical neighborhood. (although there are many disadvantages, also) We are not allowed to have curbside mailboxes (except for some that were grandfathered in), so the mail is put into a box attached to the house, or through a mail slot. (except for apartments, which have a central box) Outgoing mail is stuck into the corner of the mailbox, or you can drop it into a corner mailbox.

We do not have a front driveway, so always park in front of our house. (The neighbors on either side have one) . It's not a problem, even when DD is home and we have to park 3 cars, UNLESS someone else parks there. I have "pathways" marked that we align with, and all the cars can fit. However, if a stranger parks, they don't line up correctly, so we have to park one or two cars elsewhere.

Then the neighbor diagonally across the street complains because we're parking in front of HIS house.

You guys have no problems with parking.
Try living in the City No parking on my side of the street from 7-9am no parking across the street from 4-6:30pm.

We are jocking cars all day long then commercial vech.(Mine as well ) taking up spots we are the first block without meters so everyone trys to fill up after 9:00am and then just sit all day long.

Oh, no, I've posted on this topic before...both crazy neighbors (and Ash's beaver, I mean hamster).

My neighbor used to flip out when our guests would park in-between our two houses. We're on a cul-de-sac and there aren't many other places to park since the streets are narrow and one side is painted yellow by the fire department (and is no parking). I've posted about what a crazy lunatic he is. He's gone as far as blocking my driveway with his car (I've posted those pictures, too ) and will call the police the next time he pulls that stunt. But he's not a normal neighbor.

I'd prefer if a neighbor parks in front of their own house, but if they have and they need more spots (visitors) then of course they can park in front of my house. I wouldn't be too happy about a car being parked there that doesn't work, however. Or one being left there for an extended time. That should be in front of their house or in their driveway if they have one.

We park in our neighbor's driveway..... No one lives there! Although some people came to look at the house, but decided not to move in. Good thing, I'd hate to lose my parking spot. Luckily DH was at work when they showed up and not parked there...

This is a pet peve of mine. Now parking in front of someones house for a short while, or while visiting somoene else close by I think is normal.

When we moved in my neighbors late teens early 20's daughers used to use our house as their personal parking spots (leaving their house and driveway clear for someone else to visit them or he parents car, but then again her parents parked in front of us our all the time.)

When the girls finally got a life and moved out on their own we were very happy (cars were not the extent of it.) Of course they both seem to come home and stay for long periods (months) sometimes they just come and leave there car in front of our house for months.

The neighboors across the street from them have older teens. They also collect old cars and used to leave them in front of their own house, but right at the edge of the driveway so it was very hard for their neighboors to pull there car out. They finally called the policed on the car a number of times. They chalked the tires and it was finally towed!


It might not bug some, but it sure is a pet peave of mine!
