Is it wrong to "out" the trolls?

We all know about Trolls now.

I found out MAKmom is an Arab or Musslam name...did the google search.

I have gotten some from him too, I feel the same way.

All he "admitted" to on that other board was that he thought it was better to promote animal rights in a nice way. Can't say I disagree.

The only thing I saw in the whole difference in writing styles could easily be explained by his state of mind when he's writing. On the ARA board, he probably sat down and put quite a bit of thought into that post, and when responding to the threads here -- especially the attacks on his character -- he probably isn't able to be as eloquent.

I'd love to see someone do an in-depth analysis of my writing style changes based on my moods. I'd be labeled a stark, raving lunatic.

Among the many things that bother me about the FC whole situation is the volume of things that have been projected onto him by other posters.

As one example, I've seen it said on this thread that he "imitated a special needs person." Maybe some took his posts that way, but I don't think anybody knows for a fact that this is what he was attempting to do. When questioned about whether he had a disability, he consistently said he did not.

I don't think that everyone's posts, all time, convey precisely what we had in mind. Most of us are just regular people; we're not great novelists or journalists. FC very likely could have been aiming to sound like something entirely different than a mentally challenged person. None of us really know what was in the guy's head.

Another thing--Im sorry (as in the poster) got 3 PMs telling her that FC has Asperger's. So where did those 3 people (I'm assuming the PMs came from different posters) get their information from? Where they speculating themselves? As in they diagnosed him from his posts? Or do they have some knowledge that the rest of us don't?

Very early on, I recall seeing some posts from people who knew him from another Disney board. They said he always sounded like that, and it was known on that Disney board that he has AS. Maybe these people were who PMed Im sorry?

FC's a mystery for sure.

Just my opinion, but I think the main cause for all the anger (or maybe just disappointment) in FC is the odd tone of his earlier posts. Definitely childlike, a little disturbing, but oddly well-written. Once he established himself as a frequent Dis'er, some posters began assuming he was challenged in some way, although he insisted over & over again in his posts that he was definitely NOT challenged.

Then people started questioning him directly about his odd posts, and he would fire back with more immature, childlike language. Then some Dis'ers, with good intentions, began PM'ing those of us who questioned his posts. It became almost rediculous.

Then, all of a sudden, this animal rights post appears that is written in a much more mature manner.

Maybe he played us, maybe he didn't. I guess maybe there's a feeling that he appealed to the more sympathetic members with his childlike posts, and basically duped them. Who knows?? I'm just eager to see if he continues to post on these boards.

Either way, it's just plain weird. There are always going to be trolls, but this guy was just plain fascinating.

I don't see the correlation to comparing the FC "outing" (which I still don't see how it was such an "outing") to what Deafmedic pulled on her friends (and yes I was one of those people). It's not the same. She built a close relationship to a group of people and the a story was made up about her death.

If deafmedic had been outed as a troll early on, people wouldn't have gotten so close to her. Same with FC. The troll busters may very well have saved some innocent DISers hurt feelings or money by revealing his identity.

Besides, if he hasn't been banned, he can still come back and post, and we can all take him with a grain of salt.

IMO, the troll outers do everyone a favor, and if they enjoy solving a mystery, good for them.

Am I the only one on this thread not bothered by the pictures he posted a while back? They seemed completely harmless to me, and I don't think he had a "scary" look on his face in any of those pictures.

Reading this thread has made me rethink this whole situation. I read a number of his posts on this board and others, and I don't see a large variation in how he's written his posts. I'm sure I've blathered on incoherently in some posts and seemed reasonably articulate in others. I dunno, I'm on the fence with this one now.

Excuse me, but are you referring to me? (Im Sorry) I never received any PM's regarding FC and never claimed to. Who gave you this info?

me, too. I only received one PM and it was definitely not flaming. The PM'er simply told me that FC has Asperger's and has the mentality of an 8 year old. That was it, no harsh words or reprimands. I did, however, wonder where the PM'er got that information, but never bothered to pursue it.
