Is it worth the upgrade?

Have you stayed at CSR or are you just going on the usual assumptions about the place? You absolutely do not see "people in lanyards and suits all day." CR is a convention resort, too, and no one would say don't stay there you'll be surrounded by suits there.
Did I say "don't stay there"? I can't find where I said that? The post was helping the individual to make a decision on what resort to stay at. And yes I've spent many nights at CSR eating and exploring the property and there hasn't been one time I haven't seen lanyards and suits. In fact Disney recently filed permits with all indications pointing towards a massive convention expansion at CSR because it is extremely popular for conventions and they are missing out on the revenue from this high demand. Also, you do not see as many people in lanyards and suits at CR because its half the size and square footage of CSR. Again though, please tell me where I said "Don't stay at CSR". Thanks.

Have you actually stayed at CSR...?

1. "Magical" and "themed" are subjective. The OP is talking about four adults - not children - so they may prefer relaxing landscapes to vibrant statues.

2. I have never seen guests in business suits. The only times I've ever encountered convention guests is when I've had to use the bathrooms by the convention rooms.

3. While CSR has four bus stops, it is a very quick ride around the resort. And because CSR is centrally located, it is much faster to the parks than most other resorts. The bus drop points at the park are also closer.
1. What is your point? Of course its subjective. I was explaining that POP is more Disney like and your saying CR is more relaxing. Ok, so what is your point?
2. Have you ever been to the Pepper Market around 5pm or any Bar on CSR around happy hour?
3. Very quick ride? Not my experience. Don't forget about getting to and from the bus stop...

The reason for the closure of Cabanas 9B has not been publicly disclosed. Some have suggested a DVC expansion, others have suggested some sort of facility for conference guests. Seeing lanyards and suits on property every day of your stay happens at the Contemporary as well. That is a far cry from suggesting, as you did, that staying at Coronado you are surrounded by conference guests, which is not the case.

Also, I'm assuming from the fact that you haven't actually said that, yes, you have stayed at Coronado, that you really haven't. Because saying that you have "dined at and explored" the property is pretty much saying, as I and others said we suspected, that you have in fact never stayed there. Running into conference guests at table service at any Disney conference hotel is not surprising. When you have actually stayed at Coronado, woken up and walk out your front door headed to rope drop, fed your kids at the food court, or done the many other activities that you would do at any resort you might stay at as you come and go through the course of your day and your stay, beyond simply showing up at dinner time for table service, you might have a different opinion.

That's exactly why I asked you whether you had stayed there. Because it was pretty clear that you had not.

I saw more people in business suits at that Beach Club than I ever saw at CSR. The only time we noticed a change was on our departure day, the entire resort had been booked for a convention. I rather doubt that the OP would be allowed to book a room under that circumstance. I will also add that even on that departure day, when we were in and out of the resort throughout the day we did not see "suits".

I absolutely agree with you, and for the reasons you indicated.

CSR is like every WDW resort, it has those who love it and those who do not. I had outstanding service, the grounds were immaculate, the dining options very good, our room spotless, and the room had the wooden door rather than a curtain separating the sleeping area from the bathroom and sinks. The pool is really cool, the lake is stunning, both during the day and in the evening. I honestly cannot think of anything that would detract me from suggesting that someone whose family dynamic resembles the OP to consider staying at this resort.

It bothers me when people who have formed an opinion, yet have not stayed at any given resort skew their answer in order to reinforce their preference. I'll be honest, CSR was not my favorite moderate. I love POFQ, so I tend to compare every moderate to my experiences there. I also have to admit that I cannot find one incident that would make me choose not to book CSR other than I just prefer my POFQ. Given a choice though, if CSR priced out less, I'm going for it.

I think that when we share our opinions we should do so with the information that an OP has provided because if the tables were turned, wouldn't we appreciate the same thoughtful responses? For instance, if the family had two little ones, I would not suggest CSR over the value because the screaming Disney theme might be way more fun for the children, but with two older kids? The beds alone would be enough to send me running to any moderate, and for $200? In a heartbeat. But factor in that pool? Hands down CSR. And I feel I can say that because rather than use internet opinions, I have scoped out the resort while I stayed there.

I didn't know I was being put on trial your honor. To answer you CLEARLY I have stayed many nights at CSR on vacation and business. Wow you guys take this way too seriously, calm down. I simply offered my opinion of MY EXPERIENCE, this is what the disboards is all about. I gave the OP my opinion and you are basically saying my opinion is wrong. Your experience was different then mine, who cares. Post your experience and move on.
