Is it worth planning a trip to Disney World with a 7 month old? Tips or Tricks appreciated. How to slow down?

For those who take their infants, what are some good spots in all the parks where it’s quiet. My son still naps 2x day.

If he'll stroller nap, it's not as much of an issue. But if you're looking for something out of the way, tom sawyer island can be pretty low key (but I've never been there with a stroller...so don't quote me). Animal Kingdom has some trails.

Mine stroller napped, so I didn't really pay attention to the environment.

That is what I am hoping for. Just need some recommendations for quiet places where there is not a lot of traffic. I guess we can always do loops on the people mover and ask the attendant to let us stay on as long as there is not a line.

I've heard the convention center area of the contemporary can be pretty quiet, if there's not a meeting going on. I think that Epcot overall is fairly quiet if it's not a food and wine weekend.

Worst case there's always the baby care centers.

MK: Tomorrow land is usually good especially near/inside the exit of space mt, outside enchanted tales, or by splash mt in the shade by the water

EP: lots of spaces but we tend to end up in the exit of test track otherwise Canada is great or the garden in the UK... Germany by the water

HS: launch bay or the exit of tower of terror.... outside the commissary

AK: shade outside the safari... by Nemo or dinosaur

My son is 15 months and has already been to DL twice, WDW once, and on a Disney Cruise. All the trips went well. I don't understand people who say not to travel with an infant. Just because I have a baby doesn't mean I never want to leave the house. Plus I think under 1 is easier than toddler age in many ways. If the rest of your family wants to travel, then bring the baby.

Ours just slept in his carrier. HOWEVER--this is important. You need to establish ahead of time if you have a baby that will sleep in a stroller or carrier or whatever you hope to do. Both my sons LOVED a baby sling--in fact, in both cases, the slings became their "love objects" that they needed to sleep with for years. OTOH, I couldn't sell my daughters on a baby sling if my life depended on it. My kids go girl-boy-girl-boy. After Son #1, I had to buy a new sling, since he'd "stolen" it for his love object. Younger DD used it for a few weeks, then rejected it.

Along similar lines, my kids wouldn't sleep in a stroller. Ever. Not one of them, not once. Not that I'm bitter... Anyway, you want to practice this ahead of time, in case you face the same issue. In our case, we would have to go back to the room for an afternoon nap when we had a kid ~6 and under. I hope you have better luck than I did, but babies tend to have their own personalities and sleep patterns. Ignore that at your peril.

I would suggest treating it as a family vacation with the option of visiting the Disney Parks? I would also book everything as refundable if you can, just in case you feel that traveling with your youngest may be more challenging than you thought (colic - etc)

As a mom anytime I don't have to cook, clean drive etc. is a vacation for me so at 7 months I would definitely be up for a trip!

I would definitely invest in a lightweight fully recline stroller with a good sunshade (or buy an add on). I would also experiment with a sling/carrier for lines and places that a stroller isn't allowed.

Consider the accommodations - can your older child fall asleep in a hotel room with you ? Do you need a suite of some sort - or would a balcony or first floor room work? (We often put the kids to bed and had a "beverage" on the balcony patio for some adult time.

Finally - planning ….can you alternate park days with resort days or just take it slow at the parks with afternoon swim/nap breaks... I would start by looking at your daily routine - esp. after the baby is born to see what your schedule looks like. If the baby is a morning person - then hit the parks based on that, a night owl well then chill in the mornings and enjoy the resort :)

Remember that to the oldest a swim break with mom or dad will mean the world to them especially with a new baby in the house - that 1-1 time is as precious as any theme park ride!

I don't think babies are any more of an issue than two -year -olds with tantrums, cranky grandparents, school age kids with the "gimmes," disappointed parents who feel there child isn't enjoying everything as much as they had dreamed, snarly teens, etc. BTW, I have experienced all of these! EVERYBODY can have fun at Disney and EVERYBODY can get overtired, hungry and cranky at Disney-or ANYWHERE ELSE! I try to remember "This too shall pass," and it's still so very worth it to most of us!

My daughter has been a world traveler since she was 6 months old. When taking her anywhere as an infant, we made sure to build in down time for rest and always brought the baby carrier that we used in addition to the stroller.

I've found in Disney, EPCOT can be a good park to find quieter spots. Try around the World showcase pavilions.
