I live an hour away from Disney, and I was wondering if you think it would be a good deal to get a one day park hoper vrs staying over night at a Disney resort.
...If I lived an hour away, I'd have an annual pass.

I recommend the 4-day Florida Resident Pass or the Seasonal Pass. We live about 1.5 hours away and we have the Florida Resident Seasonal Passes. I honestly don't remember how much they cost because we've been getting the renewal price for so many years. You're "blocked out" Easter week, middle of June - middle of August, Thanksgiving weekend, and sometime between Christmas and New Year's but we've never had an urge to go during those times anyway. We go a couple of times a month for day trips; stay over maybe twice a year, just for one or two nights. Just FYI - the Seasonal Pass does not include parking like the Annual Pass does.
FYI...unless my memory fails me...there is no such things as a one day park hopper. That was part of Disney's plan from day one. That way they encourage you to spend at minimum two days there.

I did buy the 4 day $99 pass in Feb when we were there for a cheer competition. we used 2 days of it and will use it for her class trip. It was worth it. Im not sure for us buying year passes as we enjoy going to other places besides disney so this was a great buy for this year for us.. You can always find deals on hotels from different sites.. This past trip we stayed off site for $29 per night off of travel zoo. It was perfect for us and the team..
