Is it worth it to make request to MS?

How often are your special room requests successful?

  • I never get what I’ve requested.

  • I seldom get what I’ve requested.

  • I get what I’ve requested about half the time.

  • Most of the time I get what I’ve requested.

  • I always get what I’ve requested (at least so far).

Our first trip home to SSR is in just 25 days. I’ve made a request to be in Congress Park facing DTD so we can watch the 11:00 p.m. fireworks on the 4th of July. I would like to get a sense of how often these types of requests come through. I thought it might be interesting to see how successful people are in getting the requests they place with MS.

A request doesn't hurt. Sometimes they come through, sometimes they don't. Depends on time of year, booking levels, check in day, length of stay, etc.

Well... you can't get a request if you don't make one, and since it doesn't cost a penny to make one then it certainly is worth the effort. I said most of the time.

I completely agree with this, how can you get what you don't ask for?

It doesn't hurt to request, but if you do, it's best not to get your hopes too high. Not to say you won't get your request, just that if you don't, it shouldn't become a big deal.

If your requests are on the general nature, such as higher floor or not HA and such, you will get them most of the time. The more you request and how specific your request the harder to fill.

So far we have had our requests granted each DVC trip. This was not the case with CRO. We seldom if ever had any requests met at the regular WDW resorts. I guess we've been lucky since buying DVC.

Our requests are granted about half the time. The one that got me was when we requested an "upper floor" at BWV and got the ground floor near the Preview Center :confused3

Thanks, everyone. I agree it is necessary to make the request - just trying to get a sense of how often the request is granted.

I would also be interested, if anyone has a comment, to know if it makes a difference when you make your request, what time you check in, or other things like that. If you have a late check in should you call the resort and let them know you will be arriving late, but would like to verify they received the request (a subtle reminder)? Maybe that would just irritate them - not sure.

Request should be made prior to check in date. Calling doesn't do any good and your call is answered by a call center anyway. People used to fax their requests but now we are told the the faxes go straight into the trash.
