i like my characters and i was wondering if it is worth going to the toontown openign when it opens an hour after the park opens?

what actually happens and what characters do you see?

Thanks,

xjx:)

I am curious as well. The Unofficial Guide says no....their reasoning:

It goes on at the same time the park is open to everyone. So by the time you weave through the crowd and walk over to TT...you have eaten in that hour.

I imagine if you have kids who are dying to meet Mickey etc.. it still might be a good thing though.

I don't know that I would attempt getting there right at regular opening but I would probably check it out during the day when I'm in that area of the park. All the characters we saw, we had already seen in other areas of the park or in DCA (except Pluto).

We went to Toontown when we had vouchers for Morning Madness (opens the same time the park opens) and saw Chip, Dale, Pluto, Goofy, Mickey and Minnie. The kids enjoyed the rides with little or no wait and they would have spent the whole day there playing in the houses if we had let them. We left once the area opened up to the general public and it started to get a little crowded.

Do they still do morning madness? Do they do it every day?

I think that could help determine if it's good to see Toontown right when it opens or not. If Toontown is already full of people who got in early with a madness pass, then it would probably not be worth it.

I often have good intentions of getting to Toontown right when it opens, but we never make it. We're always stuck in Fantasyland riding our favorites over and over. :)

Do you mean going when it opens without the big production, or do you mean going for Mickey's ToonTown Morning Madness?

We went at opening in December, and it was fine. But I do not know if MTTMM had happened that day. There's no fanfare on a normal day.

If you're talking about MTTMM, when it opens at the same time as DL opens, then my answer is...if you have the vouchers, go. If you don't have the vouchers, having done it and having even been part of the "honorary family" (which really means nothing, LOL), even I can't recommend going to extraordinary measures to get a voucher.

If you're asking about MTTMM, know that they delay its start so that people can get back there. You're not missing it while walking from the gates, because everyone is walking from the gates! :)

They have a little parade to get the performers (not many) and some characters to the little stage area in the food court, then they have a song and dance number. Then the deputy mayor does a little speech (you can see parts of this looking on disneyland.com and searching with the term "madness"), the family of the day is announced (they have chosen that family while waiting for "everyone" to show up...DS was chosen when running up the hill (oops, running) with his pirate hat and sword on, then stopping in his tracks and calling out to "MICKEY!!!" ), then everyone runs to Mickey's house. Oh wait, that last bit might have been b/c the skies opened and it started pouring at that point. :)

On a regular day, they don't do anything. You just go in and head to Roger Rabbit, or Mickey's house...there have been characters wandering or popping out or at the front of lines of people... Mickey's house changes...when we went in for MTTMM, there were characters all the way through the house, BUT remember it was pouring rain. When we went on a normal day *before* MTTMM Goofy was outside, along with a couple others over the course of an hour or two. When we went in December, we saw Minnie outside, Goofy, Pluto...and only Mickey was in his house.

Hope I've thrown a helpful answer in there somewhere! :)

If you get tickets with a package or something, I would say try it out. I've been watching for some one Ebay the last few months and have watched them go for $156 or better, which I find kind of ridiculous. It's hard to put a value on something like that, and as much as I'd like to go, I'm not willing to pay more than $25 for a set of them. :(

We were fortunate and had our TTMM on an early entry day. So we got into the park early, rode some rides then headed over to Toontown. We were able to ride Roger Rabbit and get a FP before the "show" started. we then went right over to Mickey's and had a very short wait to meet him. We then walked to Minnie's and met her in her kitchen as she "baked". As we walked out, Donald was there and Goofy was at the bounce house. We then got right on the little roller coaster. All of that in less than 45 minutes! i know they do not do it every day and the line to get into Toontown on a regular day does start around 20-30 minutes before it opens mainly to see Mickey
