Is it worth $472?

OH Boy, I am starting to rethink our stay at PVI.

Back story...

We squeezed in 2 days at DLR for this trip. We are doing a driving trip from the Milwaukee area to the Grand Canyon, LV, Arches etc. I was able to squeeze in 2 days at DLR. We arrive on Monday when all the passes are unblocked. We will be arriving from LV on that monday. We will leave LV super early and hope to get to Anaheim around 10-11. We need to check in and then go to the parks. We were going to go to DCA our first day and then DL on Tuesday.

WE only have those 2 days. Just looking at what stayin on site offers (the 2 fastpasses per person per day) and the MM on Tuesday, is it worth it to spend the $472 extra for those perks? THat's the difference I figured out. In all acuality however it would be $622 difference because we would have the cancellation fee for our first night at PVI that I already paid.

Is the magic morning and the 2 sets of fast passes per day worth it?

And before you ask, no, I don't have a ton of money. This again would be a "squeeze". I just see the value of staying on site for the perks.

I don't know what to do.

(We were at DLR 2 years ago, so we have done most everything, this is just a wonderful gift my DH is doing for me because he knows how much I love Disney. When we originally talked about going he mentioned just going, enjoying it, and just doing whatever, stressfree) He is gone right now, I can't ask him his advice, I just have to figure this out and now I AM STRESSING!

Given that you've done pretty much everything there is to do over the years I'm not sure a couple extra 4 extra FP's /pp is really worth an extra $ IMO. I'm sorry you have to have cancellation fee. That sucks. From what I'm reading around here I would not want to stay at PVI, but I would keep your res at PVI this time and then stay onsite next time. Unless you can get out of the cancellation fee by telling them your scared about all the recent bad reports. Not sure it would work but you never know.

Fwiw, we're planning a 2 day 1 night trip and staying at DLH, because we got a pin code. So I get wanting the perks, and when it's only a $50-$100, I'm all over it. However, I'm way more frugal since having a child and don't like to spend unless I know it's a real value. The extra $622 for primarily the FP wouldn't do it for me.

On the other hand if it was an incredible suite and lots of other perks with no cancellation fee. Yes, I would.

My guess would be 'no', but then again, I'm pretty thrifty...

Question - Since you're considering changing your hotel w/ a $600+ difference, would you consider upgrading to 3-day tickets so that you could get a MM? You may even be able to sneak in an hour in DL before you leave Wednesday morning...

My first instinct is to say noooo way is it worth it, an extra hour and a few fast passes...but then I am wondering how many nights would you be staying on site and which hotel???

First of all, no way would I pay that much for a couple FPs and an extra hour in the parks.

Second, I would highly recommend not setting yourself on one park per day. Yes, you could go to DCA for the morning on your first day, but I would definitely suggest hopping back and forth between the parks throughout both of your days. That way you can really maximize FP usage (because you can get a FP for a DL ride while also holding onto a FP for a DCA ride). The two parks are so close together that it makes it very manageable to hop.

I also plan on a tight budget. I would keep your reservation. Maybe add your name to the MM request page. You never know. Maybe you will get lucky. That extra money could be used for a character meal or souvenirs.

As for your road trip - I just wanted to say the Arches area is beautiful and so is the Grand Canyon? Any chance you are going to Bryce? Personally, I think it is a must if you are driving through the area.

As another Utahn, I love I Mickey's idea of going to Bryce Canyon if you can swing it. I prefer Bryce to Arches.

Anyway....The cancellation policy at PVI is to refund your first night if you cancel within 48 hrs. I'm not sure which Monday you are going, but unless it's tomorrow, you're well within the cancellation window.

What are your dates? PPH has rates as low as $120 on expedia. Also, it is my understanding that so long as you give a certain amount of notice you get your one night refunded from PVI? However, I agree 4 fast passes and a MM are not worth $600.

I wouldn't do it...but then again I'm not the type who needs to stay on site to feel the Disney magic and I get a thrill when I save money on travel expenses :rotfl:

Disney is going to have to add much better perks before I spend that much extra on two days in the park ;)

thanks everyone. Sometimes it makes it more clear when you write it down, think on it and see what others say. The cloud clears and you know which way to go. Thanks for helping me! I will save the money and maybe buy dooney purse instead!:rotfl:
