Is it usually warm enough to swim in early-mid April?

We'll be at AKL Apr 9-15th. I've never been that time of year...I'm assuming it will be warm enough to swim, but I'm looking for input from those of you who live in FL or have visited during that time. Because of the time of year, I haven't built in any resort 'swim' days like I would during summer. Should I reconsider?

I don't know of you should reconsider building in pool days or not, but it will be warm enough to swim for sure.

I think it really depends on where you are traveling from! We live in CT so for us it was plenty warm to swim but we did see some presumably locals staring at us swimming while they had sweatshirts on! During the day it was plenty warm but as the evening came on and the breeze picked up it would get chilly. We would just stay in the nice warm pool. The weather can fluctuate too - it could be 70 one day and 85 the next! Build in a pool day? probably not, be flexible enough in your planning to take a hot afternoon off - yes!

Definitely hot enough. I went April 12-18 this year and it was actually too hot a time of year for us. You'll want to swim.

I agree it depends on where you are from. We come from Tasmania Australia and it can be cold here, and so when we go to Florida in December/January we wander around in shirts and shorts and we love the pools as we can have them pretty much to ourselves with about 4 life guards watching us as though we are crazy as they are all rugged up with coats on.

I suggest that in April it will be more than warm enough to swim and pool afternoons are fantastic breaks.

We spent a week mid April a couple of years ago. It was HOT and HUMID!

I go every April from CT. Never had a day that wasn't plenty warm enough to swim (other than rain).

We went the same time you are going this past April. It was unusually high temps for April, but the pools were Freezing!! We couldnt stay in for longer than 5 minutes. We stayed at CSR.

What part of the country are you from? We were at AKV that same week and the pools felt super warm to us!

Virginia...

We went the 19th-25th.

Even though it was above 90 every day and very humid, the 2 pools we tried at the resort were feeezing (ok.. not exactly 32 degrees.. but felt like it).

My daughter started getting blue lips and limbs... maybe it was just CSR? Or maybe because we swam right before Pool closing (at night)?

Could be. We did mostly daytime swimming. We were there April 12th-18th. I know the sunlight itself can make it feel a lot diff. I went in November last year, and it was low 70's and overcast and water felt FREEZING. The next day it was really sunny and about 70 and it felt much warmer.

We go in late March early April every year and it has always been swimming weather, some years it was really hot and some perfect, but definitely swimming weather.

What a bummer! WDW pools are heated. I wonder if the heater to your pool wasn't working.

Generally agree with above posters that it is warm enough unless you are from FL or TX or San Diego. But, we were there once in MAY and we had terrible cold weather in which everyone was buying sweatshirts and drinking hot cocoa and chilled to the bone outside. So anything can happen.

disney heats their pools so to me any time of year is warm enough.
i've been in novemeber and december and have swam without issue even on chilly days.

i just went april 12-16 and it was 90 every day.
i'd say that is not just warm enough for down right hot.

of course temps will vary from year to year but the average daytime temp in mid april is 84 which i'd say is plenty warm for swimming.

To us, it starts becoming consistently warm and warm enough for swimming around early March in FL. Looking at temps from this past April, it averaged mid 80s with the "coolest" day being 81 early in the month. Perfect swimming weather.

Thanks. I'll just keep an eye on forecasted temps as our trip gets closer. If it was up to me, we wouldn't spend much time at the pool, but my 9yr old rules the roost. :worship:

We are from Texas and mid-March this year was warm enough. DS is skinny and gets cold easily. He was fine in the water but cold once he got out. However, he gets cold out of the pool when it's summer hereo_O

You will want to swim to cool down in early April unless you are a Floridian, then ymmv.
