Is it truly cheaper off site ?

I hope you have a wonderful trip! File away the suggestions for the future--I don't imagine staying onsite is going to become less expensive any time soon.

We decided to stay on site we were able to get handicap suite at ASMU. The price was just to good to pass up .

Wonderful! Transportation is a big factor in all of our trips. I would think this option will be easier and may actually be cheaper (since it will eliminate the cost of renting a wheelchair van which could be $150 per day).

DH and I just said that with the opening of Star Wars land we foresee prices jumping .

I believe that is make a wish village for terminally ill children . Sunshine Foundation has a village with a few cute little cottages but the demand for dreams far out numbers the cottages. Autumn has been on a waiting list since 2012.
She had a cheerleading accident in a pyramid and it caused spinal cord damage. Her coaches panicked and moved her before we could get to her . So long story short her spinal cord shorts out sending her body to stop working correctly. It’s totally random and one minute could be walking, talking and full speech and vision . Then she could have a seizure and not see , walk , talk or know us for weeks , days , month. We have learned to value every moment and to never take little things for granted.

Oh my heart. Sending prayers, love, & all of the good things for your daughter & your family! xxoo:tinker:

I hope your family has a great time! Good luck with your planning! :grouphug:

First off sending prayers and pixie dust your way...

For us it's about staying in the bubble... that magical bubble, where all the world seems to fall away... and Disney magic takes over...

Staying on site you have extra magic hours that might work to your advantage, if you are going at a slower pace... or need a break mid-day this way you get more time in the parks.

Transportation with Disney buses, boats and monorails are simple and they strive to make it happen...

Parking at the Parks... is a additional cost if you are staying off site... If you what up front parking which might be a benefit to your family is additional cost, we were at AK on New Years Day... and it was 50.00 for up front parking...

Traffic - if you are staying on site... some one else can do the driving and you can relax and spend more time with your family than piloting or co-piloting the vehicle to its destination...

How much time are you going to spend in the room.

As well I thought I read that free dinning dates have or are coming out this week... something you might want to look into...

Another thought you could go for DDXDP in one room, and either DDP or QS dinning plans in the other...and work around your entitlements to get the best for your money...

Our friends did this - I helped her plan her trip over Christmas..

They stayed at Caribbean Beach Resort for 8 nights... now that you can share dinning credits it worked out so great for them...

Room 1 - party of 3 adults 1 child 5 years old on DDXDP = 3 TS or QS meal - 2 snacks day and 1 refillable mug person in the room - per person per night

3 adults x 3 meals a day is 9 meals - 9 meals x 8 nights is 72 meals = Total for the trip
1 child x 3 meals a day is 3 meals - 3 meals x 8 nights is 24 meals = total for the trip
4 people X 2 snacks a day is 8 snacks - 8 snacks a day X 8 nights is 64 snacks = Total for the trip

Room 2 party of 4 adults and 1 child 2 almost 3... QSDP = 2 QS meals - 2 snacks per-person per night

4 adults x 2 QS meals a day is 8 meals - 8 meals a day X 8 nights is 64 QS meals =Total for the trip
4 people X 2 snacks a day is 8 snacks - 8 snacks a day X 8 nights is 64 snacks= Total for the trip
1 child under 3 = no charge

It took some planning... well lots of planning... they stuck to 1 credit table meals to get more out of the plan - they had a good mix of experiences for dinning... They shared CS meals and used snack credits for extras... We stretch the credits so that they could have character breakfast before they all headed home to different parts of the country... there was snack credits leftover that they spent on snack to take home... They all haven't been in the same place for Christmas for about 5 or 6 years so this was a very special trip...

No matter how you decide... have a wonderful trip...

This conundrum is why we bought into DVC via resale in 2013.
We love the space. We love the bubble. Staying offsite is much cheaper in terms of room costs, but 6 days in the parks, a rental car, parking fees, and fuel add $300-400 to the offsite cost immediately. Time is a wash as driving offsite was about the same as taking a Disney bus, and sometimes it was quicker. We have food delivered so cooking a small meal is an option to avoid Disney food 24/7.

There is no wrong decision here.
