First off....Happy Birthday Kimmar!

Hello everyone, I'm a bit of a lurker on this thread. We are headed to Disney and staying at AKL for the first time. I'm have a bit of last minute anxiety, wondering if I made a mistake choosing this resort.

I'm reading some reviews that say it's too isolated, to much walking from point to point, that the buses are always packed and slow, etc.

Could you all be so kind as to tell my why our family will LOVE it?? Many thanks for the pep talk

I think the people who complain about it would complain about any resort. In my trips to WDW I have stayed at AKL 1/3 of the time. We do split stays, but I love to start our trips with AKL because it is so relaxing. Granted we don't plan busy park days while staying there because we love sitting on the balcony watching the animals. Strolling around the resort to check out the viewing areas is always fun too!

If your family is constantly running to the parks and not interested in the stories the CMs have to tell or watching the animals, you may be irritated by the remoteness. However, if you realize that the resort is almost like a vacation in itself with wonder and beauty beyond every turn, your family will love it!

THANKYOU everyone for your kind wishes for Mom ; she is still in hospital - they are modifying her heart-therapy - but she is MUCH BETTER , and so also Dad is quiet now.
We'll spend the weekend with him - going to visit Mom together !

It is SO BEAUTIFUL to come on here and find so many wonderful friends !!!

I plan to come and see you all as often as I can ; I do hope you don't mind if I have no time to go through ALL the posts ...

you guys write SO MUCH !!!

Because I can never make my mind up on where to stay (it's been five years since I've stayed at just one resort!) I need to change the list

Oct 1-6 AKV
Oct 6-8 Poly

And add December 10th to my Dec dates so Dec 10-15 at AKV (and then the 15-18 is a cruise on the Dream ). I just hope DH can somewhat enjoy himself in Dec as I know he will be freaking out about our Christmas lights back home. I keep telling him we have someone staying at the house and he'll be able to fix and make sure they stay on.
