Is it true that the safari opens at 9:30 now?

Has anyone just arrived from Disney? If you've been to AK, is it true that the safari opens at 9:30 instead of park opening? Is this standard policy? THANKS!!

I was just there last week.

Opens at park-open and is very, very busy.

Thanks for the reply. We were thinking of running to get FP at EE then doing the safari(should take 15 minutes before arriving at safari?). Would the wait be very long? Oh, by the way we will be there doing a very busy period, end of June. THANKS!!!

We went to get fastpasses for EE and then headed over to the Safari a couple of weeks ago. We didn't really hurry, and ended up at the Safari at about 9:30am or so. The wait was only 20 minutes. It will probably be a bit more during your busier time, but I would guess it would be doable!

The last 2 trips to AK we had 20 minute wait times posted and neither time did we actually wait that long. Both were within 30 minutes of park opening. We had to walk through the whole queue but only waited at the actual turnstiles which is pretty close to where you board the ride vehicles.
