From the TIPS board, I was reading about people that have seen kids on HEELYS in the parks!!:scared1:

PLEASE TELL ME ITS NOT TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course their are gonna be kids with the shoes on at the parks. I mean Disney hasnt gotten to the point where as well as having your bags checeked at the gates that you also need to get your shoes checked to make sure you arent wearing Heelys.

:headache:
Sad but true. I was there Dec 27 & 28, saw a lot of kids on Heelys. Only a few flagrant abuses but definately saw it happening. At that point, between the smokers, kids on heelys, massive bottlenecking, food lines requiring a fastpass ;) and other assorted overcrowding problems, I'm sure wheel enforcement was not on top of the CM's list, lol. Kept waiting to see someone run over, but as far as that goes, the strollers and wheelchairs were WAAAY more lethal IMHO.

we saw several... it's one thing if they're polite..but when they push you out of their way to fly past you... you just want to put your leg out and trip them!:rolleyes1

Heelys are officially NOT permitted in the parks, but Disney doesn't advertise this in any way, and they do a poor job of screening for them at the gates.

Got back from 11 days in late Nov. / early Dec.

I saw kids in Heely roller-shoes everywhere.... parks, DTD, resort lobbies, sidewalks.

Hundreds of them and getting more popular with every trip (we've been 6 times in the last couple of years.

Well, that's got to be a new record for these Heely threads...
an "argument-starter" in the 4th reply.

;)

Those Heelys are on my list of worst inventions ever! I saw kids wearing them when we were at WDW this past Sept.

We even saw the kids skating around in the lobby of the AKL this December!

What are heelys? :confused3

Figured it out...we did see kids with "rollerskate sneakers" :) on our last trip in September though. They didn't bother me...are they dangerous?

I saw them all over. So many kids dodging in and out on those things. Some were really out of control.

Unfortunately it will probably take someone getting hurt for them to try to control it better. I mean it is something that is hard to control, but maybe if they did a better job of letting it be known that they are not allowed, then it would help somewhat....It is just one of those things that we have to watch out for and dodge in addition to strollers. But at least most of the times the strollers are being controlled the best way possible.....at least most of the time.

I was just telling my wife the same thing this weekend.

They're dangerous and irritating.

I don't trip the kids wearing them. I'll trip the parents for letting them wear them.

Yes - When the kid trips and knocks out his teeth, or runs into someone and knocks them over.

I just find them irritating. I don't like having to dodge out of the way of kids wearing them. If a kid is coming at me full speed ahead, I just clothesline them. :yay:

I don't really know what I would do if some kid wearing those darn things ever knocked into one of my kids! I can tell you that it wouldn't be good for them!

Think I might buy myself a pair looks fun and easier than walking, has anyone spotted any 30 somthings wearing them?

:lmao: For some reason I thought you could just "walk fast." Didn't realize you could actually get a good sprint going...just watched a video on their website. Yikes! Yet another product to add to our US weight problem...whatever happened to running?????

Wonder if they are allowed in schools? I can see LOTS of injuries resulting from them.
