Is it too late to plan a February trip?

Is it too late to plan a February 1-8 trip? That looks like a low crowd week. I'd probably rent a condo, unless there's a free dining offer. Will probably drive from PA. My 3.5 year old DD would have a blast, I'm sure.

I'm having a severe case of vacationitis today, probably because it's -12 degrees outside. We haven't been on a real vacation for over 3 years. Any tips to planning a last minute trip?

I am not a pro, but I think you can plan a trip at anytime, as long as you aren't worried about eating at certain restaurants, as they may already be booked.

It's never too late to plan and you might be able to snag a last-minute deal for an offsite rental. The opportunity to book a Stay, Play & Dine discount package for those dates has passed. Tickets cost the same amount regardless of when you travel. And the same goes for food.

My only reservations about traveling during that time period would be the weather. Florida will be cool but probably not icy. However, driving from PA to Florida means possibly dealing with a Nor'easter muscling its way up the coast during your travel days. If you're flying, then it's not a huge concern whereas if you are driving, it could mean getting stuck along the route, or worse, getting in an accident.

it's never too late to plan a trip! During Sandy we decided around 6 pm on a Sunday night to drive down to Disney (DH had Monday and Tuesday off and he managed to get Wednesday off as well) - drove down that Sunday night and had a great 3 day vacation!

Find a place to stay - plan which parks you want to do each day - make any ADRs you want to make and go forth and have a great time!

Five years ago we had 18 days between booking and checking in! I agree with Marionnette ~ It's never too late to plan

I did 9 days advance in August 2011. Inspired my uber-planner friend and family to book as well and wing it without 180+ dining, we had a blast! Never too late!! Airfare was pretty expensive though.

My biggest concern would be the weather. We seem to be having an abnormally cold winter. Florida has a wind chill warning right now with wind chills in the single digits!

Definitely! If you plan on going again in the next year, buy at least one annual pass if its in the budget. You'll get great room discounts. You can book the AP rate without actually having your AP. Just have to show it at check in. You could quickly go to the park if you're driving and buy one before checking in.

We're going 2/3-2/7 and just looked into adding a few days with cash vs. our DVC (all booked) and there were still AP rooms available. Pop was $71 a night. We ended up deciding to try Universal for 3 nights instead.

We've been going during the first week of feb as our 2nd vacation/snow escape for the last 3 years and its by far my favorite time. The crowds are almost non existent and getting out of the freezing cold is wonderful. We're driving for the first time with kids (from NY) and I'm terrified lol. We waited too long to book flights for less than $1800. See you there!:)

Oh and I agree, it's never too late to plan! I did a short 24 hr trip less than a day in advance about 3 years ago. Jetblue was offering $40 RT flights. Couldn't pass it up!!

Is never to late to plan a trip. I did a 5 night trip last March whooch was planned in Feb. Southwest had $69 dollar flights. I had a $50 Southwest credit that was going to expire before I could use it and an AP. I could get the days off so it was too hard to pass up.

I once planned a visit four days in advance. My friend and I were going to her condo in New Smyrna Beach for ten days. We were flying to Orlando on a Tuesday. On Saturday morning she asks me if I would like to go to Disney for a couple of days (she knows I am a fan). Of course I said "yes" and by the end of the day, we had reservations at POFQ. Had a great time. So, the moral of the story is, it is never too late to plan a trip to Disney World!

Have fun!

Thanks for the replies everyone! We have decided to go, and I'm in the process of communicating with condo owners right now. I'm normally a huge planner, and book our vacations about a year out and research the whole time. So this is going to be WAY different for me. Considering that our 3.5 yr old DD is going, it's probably a good thing that this won't be a "commando" trip like usual. :)

Can someone remind me of where to get the legit discount WDW tickets? Is it undercover tourist? I seem to have deleted my emails from them, if someone wouldn't mind forwarding me a copy please.

Go and have fun. We have driven twice in February. We have not had problems except that is has been COLD. Last year when we went they we selling hot chocolate out of the ice cream carts.

If you do want to go to a sit down restaurant. Keep trying. Last time I was able to get everything I wanted except Be Our Guest.

Be sure to pack warm coats and mittens. We needed them last year.

How fun! Undercover Tourist is the place for tickets. Do you have the mousesavers newsletter to use that link?

Also...if you are interested, Bonnet Creek Resort is awesome! And it is onsite for the most part...just not owned by Disney. You can rent villas there through timeshare owners.

Some owners that are great to use are...
Vacation Upgrades
Utopia World Vacations
Farrells
5starresorts.net

You can Google pictures of the resort. Location cannot be beat for the price of like $100 a night including all taxes.

Hope this helps! Have a blast!
