Hi everyone, I'm a complete newbie here (first post on Dis), and completely new to renting points. I'm hopefully going to be looking to rent points for a trip in the early part of November in the next couple days. I'm just waiting to determine if we need a one or two bedroom villa, which I should know in a day or two (waiting on a decision from my parents as to whether they want to go along with my family, which they should know in the next day or two). I know I'm past the 11 month window for members to book at their home resort, but I'm not looking for Thanksgiving week, so is 8 months still a decent amount of time to secure a rental? I think I pretty much have my parents sold on the idea of renting points, though none of us has ever tried it, but it's an idea that just came to me this past weekend. I have a September trip booked at the Poly with free dining from the Bounceback special for the three of us, but my husband and I have been giving it a lot of thought and really want to switch to November and renting points for a few reasons: 1) We were too hot on more than a few days during our last September trip. 2) We both want to try the deluxe dining plan, which doesn't work with free dining, obviously (tried to see if we could upgrade and pay the difference, and weren't able to). 3) I would like to hit SSW, which I haven't done in almost 10 years, and 4 ) I did a rough estimate and renting points, getting the deluxe dining plan and buying our park hoppers for the trip from an authorized broker, our trip comes to approximately the same cost as our free dining stay at the Poly. So that kind of seemed like a no-brainer to me if we can swing it.
So, am I too late, or should I have a decent chance?
Oh, and... Hi, my name is Jenn, I'm a stay-at-home mom (35) WDW addict, married to a 35 year old attorney and fellow WDW addict, with a 5 year old WDW addict son (periodically, we'll be driving somewhere in the car, and he'll pipe up out of the blue "Mommy, how do you get from the Grand Floridian to Epcot?" or some other WDW transportation question. He loves figuring out how to get from one point to another on WDW property and figuring out alternate routes as well. And that's just at home, down there, he's in his element, planning routes all over the place.
). We're hopefully future DVC owners, as soon as we focus on getting our townhome on the market and moving into a new home here first, then we can do the buying into DVC thing. (Darn priorities and all that, what fun are they?
)
I look forward to getting to know all of you.
