Hi. I have a 2 bedroom booked Aug 19 for 1 week @ Saratoga Springs. Is it too late to change to a 1 bedroom, 1 person has cancelled out on us??
If its too late, which i believe that it is, would I be able to "rent" out the studio part of the 2 bedroom privately?
thanks

I was able to change a studio reservation to a 1 BR at SSR just this past Monday with no problems. We will be arriving Aug 21st.
But my change requires more points, what you want to do requires less...

So the problem with changing your reservation is the extra points are going to have to go into holding at this point, it's too close to the arrival date. I would just enjoy the extra space rather than lose the points.

Renting out the studio portion would work if it were a lock-off, but if not , won't your renters have a key to your room as well?

It's not too late provided SSR has a 1BR available for your dates. However, because a 1BR requires fewer points than a 2BR, the change will free up some of your points and because you are within 30 days of your check-in date, the points will be put into "holding". You can use points in holding to book a stay at a DVC resort provided the reservation is booked 60 days or less in advance of your check-in date. You can use the points to book a stay through The Disney Collection, World Passport Collection, Concierge Collection, and Adventurer Collection if you make the reservation 60 days or less before your check-in date, and more than 60 days before the end of your Use Year. Points in holding cannot be banked or borrowed and will expire at the end of your Use Year if not used.

I don't have any experience with this so hopefully someone else will answer this part.

Good luck!

In regards to renting, the studio and 1 bedroom section of a lock-off are keyed alike, they are considered one ressie...so your renters, either way, lock-off or dedicated, would have a key to your room and vice-versa.

By the same token, you can not simply drop a section of the 2 bedroom lock-off from your ressie. For instance, if you want to keep the 1 bedroom section, and drop the studio...if there is a waitlist for the one dbedroom it will take it first...as it techicaly is considered cancelling the 2 bedroom ressie and booking a new 1 bedroom ressie. However, if there is availability for a one bedroom, then you should be able to change, but as the other posters said, your unused points will go into holding status.
