Is it too early to start planning for next Dec(2006)?

Can anyone tell me how far in advance you can actually book a room? We are planning a Sept. 2007 trip - would love to book a room-only ressie now and then wait for a code/discount package (if one becomes available). Can I do that? Thanks!

you can book 499 days from your last night's stay. the computers won't let them book any further out than that.

I booked the CR that far out but like a PP, I also cannot get a standard wing room for the first week of Dec. There is something up with the resort or the system. I keep calling back every few weeks but no luck yet!

Now we started planning the trip 6 months before I booked my rooms so that is 2 years in the planning. what fun!

We are going in November 2006 and I already booked it this past September. Plus I already made ressies for Hoop Dee Doo and for The Spirit of Aloha dinner shows.
If a Promotion or Discount comes out in the meantime, I'll just call and get my package adjusted. I did that last trip and got back $700 taken off!!!
If you are a Disney Freak like me, its loads of fun to keep reading, and researching and asking questions!
Have Fun !!! :teeth: :lovestruc :wave2: ::MickeyMo

Glad I'm not the "freak" that the AAA agent probably thought I was when I asked her to book my Dec. 2006 rooms. I booked rooms and am hoping to get to MCO on miles. Coming from Hawaii might be a fat chance..but I'm enjoying learning and planning.

We just got back on Oct 8th, and we are already planning our next vacation for December 2007.
I've pretty much figured how much it will basically cost, not including airfare.
Now I have over 2 years to budget for our deluxe vacation in 26 months. Gosh, that is so far away.
Can't book anything yet, but I can still plan. :)

Don't think of it like that. Think of it as Ron from Michigan said, that the fun is in the planning, even if it's long-term. I booked our first Disney cruise almost 2 years ago, and we're leaving in 2 months! The time flew by, and I had a ball planning everything, reading these boards, asking questions, researching every detail like a true Disney fanatic!
Now I'm getting stressed, thinking that our cruise will be here and gone before I know it, but I always have the next trip to plan for, even if it's 2 years away. Trust me, these boards will keep you busy until then!

I have to add my complete and total agreement to the chorus of others! We returned on 12/7/04 and I started my Excel workbook for our 11/30/06-12/10/06 trip about three days later. We booked through AAA as soon as rates became available in early August and I made our first ADR, for HDDR, a few weeks ago. Plus, the 2006 guides have just become available or will be shortly. This time, I splurged on a Deluxe Passporter! I've done the majority of the planning already, using my own experience and historical park data, working out a preliminary list of ADRs and an itinerary.

Did my AAA agent think I was insane? Probably, but she's been great! Does my DBF think I'm insane? Definitely, but I keep reminding him how well my plans turned out last year and he shushes up real quick!

you will not be able to do this until about March-May next year.

Definately you can book your Room only first and then add on the packages (deals) when they come out.

Also.... Something new.. you can start to book your dining now 180 days in advance!

It's never too early to plan! Now more than ever, this is true with the implementation of the 180 day ADR policy. If I was planning a trip during 12/06, I would go the week of the 10th. I would do as I am this year and arrive on Sunday. I would do MVMCP that day. I would also stay for a full week. But, that's just me. Have a great time planning! Maggie

When we went December 2004, I booked at FW, July 2003 and didn't have no problem.
