Is it too early to start looking for the points now? and how do i work in the resort magic package in all this? any info. would be greatly appriciated. thank you!!!

370 days til Disney World :D

It's not too early. A BWV owner can make a ressie 11 months ahead of checkout. For mid- June, that would be mid-July.

You will not be able to purchase a package of any kind if you chose to rent points from a DVC member. You will have to arrange for everything you want separately.

I also think you should set it up now, especially if you would like standard view rooms. Post on the DVC Rent-Trade board and put the dates you are looking for in your Subject. Good luck!

Sarah,

Welcome to the DIS fellow Buckeye!!!!!!!Good luck on DVC Rent -Trade Board. If you post early enough you may get lucky.;)

Not too early. Chances are it will be difficult to find one person who has 700 points to rent. You may have to piece together a vacation with at least two different people willing to rent. You may want to work out some type of contingency arrangement since cancelling is not as easy as with a regular hotel reservation.

Why not spend the money to buy points of your own instead of just renting them. Then you can go back for the next 40 years. $7000 would go quite a distance in purchasing your own points.

Deb & Bill have a really good point there Sarah!

That's how I ended up buying. And I wasn't looking for nearly as many points as you are. As I was planning a trip for my 15th wedding anniversary, one of the Disney planning sites suggested renting points. After researching it and lurking in the boards to see the availability of points, I asked myself why I was doing this instead of just buying my OWN points! After I placed a call to DVC and requested an info package, my guide called to answer a few questions and brought up the fact that I had spoken with her already a few years ago! She started explaining things about DVC that I didn't fully understand before. Next thing you know, I'm buying 200+ points at BCV (my family loves Epcot, the "five minute walk" line was a real a seller), then I'm getting a few points at HH (and I've never vacationed in the Carolinas nor do I love to golf) and then a little add-on at VWL (for the atmosphere and MK boatride). My family loves travelling, not just to WDW. However, knowing that there will always be a next time (well, at least, 39 years of "next times") makes it so that we never have to do "commando" style WDW visits.

Buying 234 points now will give you 702 for 2003 through banking and borrowing; $7,000 is a little more than a third of an initial purchase (at $80/point).

Just something for you to think about...
