I was wondering????? We will be at WDW the first of March. I would like to drive my DM & DD to the beach for a day trip. Will it be to cold to swim in the ocean/gulf. Any good suggestions. We don't want to drive to far as my DD is 6 and gets real antsy in a car if it is over 1-1/2 hours.

what temperatures are you use too...

the ocean temperature will be in the 70's or 60's - much to cold for me.

in the summer it is in 90's.

I was swimming in the ocean a week ago Saturday (2/19) in West Palm. It was beautiful, the water was warm and there were many people there enjoying the beach. Of course, it was 80 degrees that day so that helped but the water was nice.

I am coming from Michigan. We are used to swimming in colder water in the summer anyway. Lake Michigan & especially Lake Superior never seem to get that warm. Of course, we just got 10 new inches of snow yesterday and this morning and it is like 22 degrees this morning so anything is warmer than it is here. My daughter will probably swim in anything as long as the air is warm and it looks like we are doing OK there. Thanks again for the information. What's your favorite beach?????

I am getting so excited. Two more days and we're out of here!!!!!     :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc   :cool1: :cool1: :bounce:

the Panhandle area of Florida - north and west of Orlando.

I would think the Tampa - Clearwater area - there are several beaches here - would be around the same. Nice beaches and generally calm waters.

On the other side is Daytona, Ormond Beaches, further north is St Augustine.
the beaches on this side don't, on the whole, have the nice white sand of the Gulf beaches. The Ocean is generally not calm - there will always be waves on that side.

Its the 1st of March and I could use a swim. Its hot today.

According to the maps, the water down in the Naples area is close to 75 degrees. Further north, it cools off quickly.

In Clearwater, the water will be closer to 70, maybe a little cooler. Too chilly for my blood.

On our way down to Disney we stop in Coco Beach (near Ron Jon Surf Shop). We went in Feb. both times and the water was always fine to go into. However, I am from MI and currently it is snowing outside my dorm window...

Those temps sound fine to me! But I am also in MI so anything is better than what we have here!

70 is pretty cool for water temp!

We went to Clearwater a few years ago in March (2nd week, maybe?) and it was too cold for us Jersey girls to swim. There were a lot of people at the beach, but not too many in the water.

We are hoping it hits 26 today here in Orono, although with the wind blowing at 15-20 mph, temperature becomes irrelevant! Last June we spent a week in Cocoa Beach and were really pleased with the beach. I have NEVER been in ocean water this warm! Of course that was in June, but I am used to the Atlantic Ocean here in Maine, where at almost any time of the year it's, well, invigorating (read "cramps to the hips as soon as you get in!)! Honest- we are happy if the water temp is in the 50's! Cocoa Beach is about 1hr15 mins from WDW area, straight shot east on the highway.
arrhh...I WANNA GO TO DISNEY WORLD!!!
