Is it scary sleeping on Deck 2?

I booked Cat. 10. Last time had luck and got the secret porthole rooms so we were on Deck 5. I'm a little nervous about being "down there." :rolleyes1 Will I feel trapped?

:wave2: Hi,
I don't have the answer but I am pleased you asked this question as we are staying in rm 2558 in Aug.
:cheer2:

We did not feel "trapped" at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So far, we have been on three cruises, and have been on deck 2, deck 6, and 7...I love them all, but we slept Beautifully on deck 2.. :cloud9: The motion is hardly felt..

I think that is the general..but I may be wrong.. :confused3

I know how you are feeling. Our first cruise the room had to be "above" the water. Our second cruise we were on the first floor inside room and it did not bother us at all. In fact we did not feel like we were at the bottom of the ship at all.

Please now.....there are no decks "under water" except crew decks....Decks 1 and 2 are fabulous locations and look and feel exactly the same as all the other passenger decks on DCL. If you stepped out of a stateroom on Deck 2 and Deck 8 you would not be able to tell the difference.

We have cruised DCL 13 times and spent many of our cruises on Decks 1 and 2....they are the best location for easy access to most everything onboard except the pool deck. You are close to shops, shows, chacaraters, photos, shore excursion desk, guest service desk, clubs, etc....

Don't ever feel you are "down in steerage" by being on the lower decks....they are really nice and I hate seeing them get a bad rap!!!!

Ok...I am done with my rant!!! :teeth:

mmouse37 - exactly! Even though your are on Deck 2 you are still well above the water! I loived the location and have requested a lower deck on our next cruise (non-Disney though). Deck 2 was nice and quietand close to the restaurants.

I have said before and I'll say it again, on the lower decks you have easier access to get off the ship while port, not need to wait for the elevtors when the entire boat is headed down to your deck to exit!

I had the same concerns. Please let me put you at ease. Our first DCL trip was on Deck 5, Cat 7. Our second cruise, we were on Deck 2, Cat 9. We LOVED the location and the room. Very convenient for dinner, entertainment and debarking on the islands. :sunny: We've sailed three more times on DCL...twice on Deck 9 with no complaints...just Magical memories! :earsboy:

Happy Sailing! :wave2:

::yes:: we have been on deck 2 for all 3 cruises.. no problem - we love it..

Deck 1 cruiser checking in. We did not feel trapped at all, and would not hesitate to cruise there again.

:) We've stayed on Deck 2 twice and loved it. We had no problem with motion, noise or sleeping. You'll have a blast even on Deck 1! Good luck to you!

Wow guys, this thread is just what I needed to see right now. I normally have a SPR but for the Aug repo they were all booked up. We have a 9 on deck two now. I have been very nervous thinking it would be deck 1 or 2. You guys set my mind at ease. Thanks!

Another deck 2 supporter checking in :wave2: We were lucky to be upgraded to deck 8 on our first cruise, but were on deck 2 on our second. We've actually rebooked deck 2 for our upcoming 3rd cruise in November. Only change we made was to go from an inside (cat. 10) to an outside (cat. 9) ... I learned that I need the natural light in order to maintain my internal body clock. Kept finding myself waking up all night wondering what time it was, then had trouble dragging myself out of bed in the morning. :confused3
