Is it rude?

No way is it wrong!!! I think double booking times like two lunches for two different parks is out of hand, but not doing a lunch and a dinner, then deciding to cancel one of them!
We change our plans so much when we are there! I think in 14 days you can cover all the restaurants you want for sure.
Alos, Disney has so many walk ups, I am sure you are never missed when you no show, much less call a day in advance.
Now, I do know that CRT was the exception, and I think it is fair they charge for this one.

Since people need to eat every meal, I don't have a problem with PS's for all three meals on one day, if that's what you want to do (spend all your day eating?), regardless of whether you'll use them all. Just be courteous and cancel any you won't be using as the time grows near...even if it is day-of. However, it's the multiple PS situation, with mom AND dad AND grandma all making a PS for the same day in different names and not cancelling, that led at least in part to the "reservation charge" at Cindy's b'fast and PSB. I have a friend who is the queen of multiple PS's, using her name and cell# for dinner one place and her DH's info for the same date/time at a different place. Arrgh...and of course they never cancel, it's not a reservation, after all (they are the ones sneaking a cigarette over in the corner, dumping car trash in the parking lot under the next car over, etc.)

Interesting...so do you know how much they actually charge? What is the total based on?

When I booked our Fantasmic dinner, I was told that if we didn't cancel 24 hours out, they would charge us $10 a person. I knew there would be 5 of us, possibly 6, so I made the seating for 6. I was told that I even had to cancel the 6th person or be charged for it.

Yes, you would be charged. It's your responsibility to be in the park you're supposed to be in for your PS. Granted, it's Disney closing the park at capacity, but they have no obligation to make sure you can get in -- that's your job.

On a day like July 4, making two dinner PS's is truly taking a PS away from someone else who is trying to find a PS on a very busy day. And ... you'll have to give a CC number for both ressies. If, by some chance, things get busy and you don't have time to cancel one -- or if you can't get through due to heavy phone volume -- you will find a charge on your card. Plus, a day like J4 -- you KNOW it's going to be busy that day. If you want so badly to eat at LTT that day, then you need to plan your day around that.

:earsboy:

So what you are saying is basically if you have a PS in the MK on the 4th of July you'd better be there all day in case they close, it's your responsibility to make sure you are in the park before they close it. That seems a bit much to me. I don't think I'm taking a PS away from anyone because 1) if I can't get into the park someone in the park will definitely get my PSd, and 2) if you make your PS at the 90 day mark (like I do) then I would think that you will be able to get a PS somewhere. If you don't bother making any PS before you leave - then I think that's YOUR responsibility if you can't find somewhere to eat on a holiday or a busy season.

Okay I have a question - we want to make a PS for dinner at LTT on the 4th of July. I have been told that MK may be full and we wouldn't be allowed in for our PS. Would I be charged if that was the case, also shouldn't I have a back up PS for that night for dinner in case we are unable to get into MK. I would make it for about 2 hours later that way I could cancel if we were able to get into LTT.

DisneyMomx7: Hope you're still reading this thread.... I read one of the perks of staying on-site is that you can get into a park even if it is closed to the public. Now, the book's author (it may be UG) goes on to say why would you want to do this, obviously the park is packed!!! But in your case, if you're staying on-site...it would let you in to eat...and then you could decide if you wanted to stay in the park...or go someplace else.

Yes, we're staying at the Grand FLoridian. Actually that's what I always thought too, but some were saying that on the 4th it may even be closed to resort guest. That's why I might make a back up PS at GF cafe just in case. I don't think it will be too packed there.

This is why Disney went to PS's. Too many people were making too many reservations and not cancelling or showing up. They would hold your reservation, no one would show up or cancel and the resturant had seats being held and empty I liked it before when you made a reservation, they took your credit card number and gave you a res. number. If you didn't cancel or show up, you got billed. This PS is great , you have a PS and get next available seating, so if you don't show or are late, the next person in line with a PS gets moved up and seated.
