Is it really faster to walk to the Polynesian from the TTC?

I have read some posts where people say how fast it is to walk from the TTC to the Polynesian & I was just curious if that's true? Since my family & I stay at the Contemporary, if we wanted to visit the Polynesian we just take the Resort Monorail. So just letting everyone know right now we are not planning on walking from the TTC to the Polynesain. Anyway is the Resort Monorail really not the better option? I mean if your planning on eating at Ohana or Kona Cafe, it's on the same floor as the Monorail staion at the Polynesian. So doesn't that beat walking & who knows you might be lucky when arriving at the TTC to see the Monorail already there & not having to wait. Agian I am only speaking from my experience of taking the Monorail to the Polynesian, so please be kind with your answers lol.

If you arrive at the TTC and see the Resorts monorail, chances are unless you can fly, by the time you get up to the platform the monorail will have departed.

Last week, we chose to walk from the TTC stop over to the Poly (for the first time), also for an ADR. It's a fairly short, nice walk (weather permitting). The only part that was confusing was in finding the Great Ceremonial House  . It has been a long time since we stayed at the Poly, and to us, all the buildings looked alike :teeth:, and the signs weren't too helpful. Now that we know the way, that is the way I'd choose; it's like walking in the tropics.........very lush and quiet. :thumbsup2

And that's the key. IF you are arriving at the TTC and there is a resort monorail car there, you may get lucky and be able to hustle enough to board it and go right to the Polynesian.
However, it sounds like you will be coming from the Contemporary. Why in heaven's name would you get off the monorail and walk to the Polynesian? Just stay on the monorail and get off at the Polynesian. Most of the talk about walking between the TTC and the Polynesian are those who are going from the Polynesian to the TTC to pick up the Epcot line.

I don't know if you read my 1st post in this thread, but I was just curious to know the answer. Also I stated since my family & stay at the Contemporary we would just take the Monorail, because it's easier for us.

At least when taking the Monorail you go right into the Great Ceremonial House.

Yes, I did, in fact read your original post. That's why I wondered why someone would even consider walking from the TTC to the Polynesian since they would already be on the monorail that is going to stop next at the Polynesian. I don't believe anyone would get off the monorail and walk to the Polynesian from the TTC. If they arrive at the TTC,in a car for instance, then sure, they could just walk to the Polynesian.

I think you will see more conversations about the walk to the TTC from the Polynesian being faster than riding the monorail from the Polynesian back to the TTC.

I think you can make the case either way for which is faster when going TTC -> Poly. However, when going Poly -> TTC, walking is easily the faster route.

The OP is confusing two seperate questions. Transportation between the CR and the POLY has nothing to do with the TTC. The resort monorail is the way to go. You could get off the resort monorail at the GF or at the TTC and walk BUT WHY?

The point is directed to guests who have a reason to be at the TTC. Guests who arrive via non-Disney bus, car or even monorail from EPCOT. The walk through POLY is pleasant. Walking up to the monorail platform and waiting for a resort monorail might take as much time as just walking. Walking will probably be faster than taking the resort monorail back to the TTC.

Ok, I'm one of those.

I'm not staying at a monorail resort but have an early morning breakfast at 'Ohana. I think my best bet is to park at the TTC since I want to go to the MK after breakfast.

My breakfast reservations are at 7:30. Is the resort monorail running that early? Will the TTC be open? I expect I'd have to get to the lot by 7:00ish to make the reservation.

About how long would the walk from the TTC to the Poly take?

My response was directed at the second question.......from the TTC to the Poly. We were coming from Epcot on the monorail, and rather than going up to the other monorail platform, we chose to walk. And again, it was quick and lovely. :thumbsup2

I'm only guessing, but maybe the OP was confusing things and maybe she really read in the past about people saying it's quicker to walk from the Poly to the TTC, in that direction, rather than riding the monorail from the Poly to the TTC, since that would be one relatively long monorail ride.

[... not to mention one really long run-on sentence]

A thousand pardons. If I clicked around to look at everyone's profile I'd spend even less time playing with my kids and getting paid work and housework done than I already do.

There is no need to be saracastic & rude. If you look at it from my point what else am I supost to say to you getting your facts wrong about my gender? I just thought saying look at my profile was the only logical answer.

JC Butterfly:
Depends on how fast you walk, I suppose. We eat breakfast at Kona each trip and walk from the TTC to the Poly every time. I'd say 5-7 minutes, at the most.

I truly wasn't being sarcastic and rude. My response was totally at face-value. No sarcasm intended -- really! :goodvibes

Don't think there was any offense meant here, or sarcasm. I, myself, have made the same mistake about different posters. There is no way we are going to be checking everyone's profile before posting a response to them. It does make life easier if someone actually lists their name in their signature but some may not be comfortable with doing that. So.....let's just let it go.

Now, in response to JC Butterfly, yes, get to the TTC about 7ish. You really are better off just walking. It's such a nice walk. When you get to the TTC, head off to the left, towards the trees. You will see a sign that points to the walkway to the Polynesian. It's about an 8 minute walk or so. You will pass the longhouse Rapa Nui on your left, then Tokelau on your right, the quiet pool in front of Tokelau, then another longhouse and you will be at the Grand Ceremonial House. Go upstairs and you'll be there, at the restaurant.

Please, take this as well intended honest advice: Don't sweat the small stuff. Just let something like that go.
