Hi,

I am going to WDW in August. It will be HOT! And I thought that it would be (temperature wise) cool to wear a skirt. My question is -- will I flash people on any of the rides? :scared1: Is this practical?

Thanks!

I had on a shortish skirt (above the knee) at AK and I was so self conscious
and aware of my skirt while getting on or off rides and espicially on Kali River Rapids. I won't do it again!

A lot of the rides you are either going to be stepping straight down 1' - 1.5' or having to raise your legs 1'-1.5' to step into ride vehicles. I'd say it would depend on just how short and the fit (something really loose fitting could become kite-like at times).

i bought some skorts at walmart that i wore for our trip. ($11, i think) they are a lightweight/athletic material and have stretchy bicycle-type shorts attached underneath that are the same color as the skirts.

they're so comfortable i've been wearing them all summer. and i didn't have to worry about flashing anyone while stepping into/out of any of the rides or squatting down to do something with the kids/strollers.

But that would defeat the cool (temperature-wise) factor, which is what the OP is interested in.

I would never wear a skirt to Disney...fear of flashing people on rides and I have seen too many hidden camera shows about people "upskirting" with a mirror or camera! Eww!

I love wearing skirts to Disney and other places during the summer. I never really have a problem with flashing people. I don't wear really short skirts, usually something just above my knee or just below it. I love the jersey knitt ones from Old Navy; they're so comfy and light weight. Me and shorts don't get along, so it's usually skorts, capris, skirts or even summer dresses(not really long ones tho).

I say go for it and just remember when getting on or off a ride that your wearing the skirt and try to get on and off carefully.

for me these are cooler than jean shorts or even other skirts. maybe TMI, but if i just wear a skirt my legs seem to get sweaty/sticky when it's very hot out. the fabric of these "breathes" and because my bare legs aren't touching i don't get hot or sweaty.

:lmao: :disrocks: Though I know what you mean!

I was wondering the same, I have some long (to the knee) cottony skirts I was thinking of bringing to Disney to wear since it'll be so hot in September. I wear skirts (not the light airy kind but the business kind) to work all the time, so I'm used to wearing them daily but there also is no breeze in the office that'll cause me to flash anyone! :rotfl:

I will bring them anyway, but I am not sure if I will wear them. It won't be fun if I am worrying all day long about giving people a show.

I wear a denim skort and LOVE it.
It "goes" with everything, looks neat and I get to wear it more than once with different tops, which cuts down on overloaded luggage.

Hmm... I just don't see how a skirt with shorts underneath could be any cooler than shorts alone. I agree about the legs touching!

I love long flowy skirts and do think they are very cool however I have chub rub so while initially it is very cool, after a few hours the friction can cause flames to shoot out from my thighs!:lmao: If you are comfortable and have no chub rub then go for it!:cutie:

I have worn shorts maybe twice in the last 8 years of trips. I find skirts & sun dresses waaay cooler, i'm not a fan of shorts really i hate the extra fabric wrapping my legs i feel like i'm wearing saran wrap once it gets warm, or on a ride like Kali the LAST thing i'm looking for is a soaking wet saran wrap. I have 2 very small children and i am in and out of their strollers constantly, riding rides and never had a flash moment. I think skirts can be perfectly fine as long as you are aware of how you're crouched over i doubt you'll have a Brittney Spears moments on any rides.

I was unsure about wearing skirts/dresses as well. However, I took several sundresses during our trip over Memorial Day. I wore all of them and was so much more comfortable! Some days I wore a thin pair of "biker shorts" under the dress. Other days, I did without and used Body Glide to prevent (sorry if TMI) rubbing in the inner thigh area! :rotfl2: Again, I was cooler and more comfortable on those days than any other and had no problems getting in and out of rides. My dresses were a little below the knee.

JC Penny's has skorts on 60% off clearance. I got a few pairs for $6 each!!

I would do the skorts during the day and wear a long summer skirt in the evening. Not for the rides.

Personally, I wouldn't wear a skirt except in the evening. I even make my sundress-loving DD wear shorts in the parks.

If you are comfortable in the skirts by all means wear them! I think someone didn't know about the short/skirt combo. I know what you mean -I have a few pair of shorts like this that have the undies built in & they are not hot at all. Very comfy!!!
