We are booked AKV studio, but I'm regretting not have two real beds. Is it possible to move to AKL with two beds and pay the difference or is it not even an option? Anyone tried this before?
Thanks for any help!!

How did you book your reservation?

Did you rent points from a DVC member? If so, then the answer is probably no. Some DVC owners do not have the ability to use the "Disney Collection" (Disney resort rooms) and others will tell you that it takes too many points to get the same type of accommodations.

However, if you booked through Disney, then you can always change your reservation as long as you're willing to pay the difference.

TBH, I think that you'll find that the sofa bed is not as bad as you're thinking. My daughter and niece shared one back in January and they didn't complain. My only complaint was that the sofa kind of blocks access to the balcony when it is open.

actually, once a hotel opens a DVC section, it no longer becomes available as an option for DVC pts under any circumstances.

if you booked through disney, it's no problem to call and check availability on the hotel side...but limiting your cancellation options was part of the deal for lower prices on a points rental...

(just my opinion - i have slept on the sofabeds at DVC resorts and think they are fine. if it's a "value" studio, it will be very cramped but those are smaller than other studios.)

Yes, OP, your options are entirely dependent on how you booked your reservation.

If you're staying on your own DVC points, you can't book a room at AKL with points (no matter whether you purchased direct or resale). You could cancel your points reservation, and make a cash reservation at AKL.

If you're staying on someone else's points, you can cancel, but I wouldn't expect to get any money back, most rentals have a no-cancellations policy.

If you're on a cash reservation at AKV, yes, you can cancel and rebook an AKL room, subject to availability.

Thanks everyone. We rented points, so I guess we have to keep it. I finally saw a pic of the studio and it doesn't look as bad as I imagined. We will mostly be at the parks or on the balcony looking at the animals, so I'm sure it will be fine.
Thanks again!!
